Typical shit quality article from NewsCorp.
Telling us something everyone has known for ages and trying to make out that it's news; coupled with piss poor research.
Apparently "Asofa-Solomona will miss the Storm’s Round 1 fixture in Las Vegas"!?!

I hope you've been well Saxon.

What not a surprise -

It used to be that if you were suspended by the NSWRL/ARL and initially the NRL, you were ineligible for selection in any rep teams. It has become ridiculous that now you can count rep games, trials and exhibition games as part of your suspension sentence. Frankly it makes the punishment part of a suspension a joke.

I don't have a horse in this race, but, conversely, these players are missing out on a representative fixture they would otherwise have been picked for, why shouldn't it count?

Mid-season, if you're suspended for 4 games and that happens over Origin, and you're an eligible player with a reasonable prospect of selection, the same applies and so it should.

I do not agree that it should count. It used to be if you were suspended due to an incident in a first grade game, you were ineligible for selection in the first place, and your suspension applied to NSWRL/ARL/NRL games. Saying rep games (for example) should be included is problematic as it is no guarantee that player x would be selected in the first place.

For example, (iirc) in 2023 JWH had his suspension for NRL games missed reduced by getting games for NZ included after he was suspended arising out of an incident in the finals. At the time, with the NZ eligible players available for those games, it was incredibly unlikely in my opinion he would have even made the squad, yet he got them included. its incredibly subjective, and it opens the NRL Judiciary process to a perception of bias. There may not be any bias, but it is a perceived bias none the less due to the subjective nature of representative selections in the first place.

My club has benefitted from it, I do not deny it. However, that doesn't make it ethically correct in my opinion. For my club, nor any other.

Where the punishment is in games missed, could the NRL Judiciary give suspensions nominated in NRL games i.e. JWH you are suspended for 6 NRL games.

NRL are scared of being Racist. This is another joke, NRL bowing to the needs of these blokes who are crying. Do the crime, do the time. But not in an exhibition match. The suspensions were to light anyway.

So, you want Latrell's one game suspension to mean he misses:

- Round 27, 2024 when he was injured (like everyone else who has served suspension while injured)
- All Stars game because he is suspended and ineligible
- Round 1, 2025

?

Im pretty sure its been this way for a few years now. Brendan Smith used this game for his coke suspension a few years ago and then played against us in round1

Yes, I do. It's not about Latrell, nor JAC. It's the wider principle of the matter. Including rep games, and "exhibition" games (for want of a better generic terms) makes the punishments farcical.
