@ Wb mikail said digicel covers nrl on its platforms.
Why aren’t png people watching it now and if they are why isn’t it currently valuable to the nrl?

Not sure how up to date this is, not come across it before but interesting to see whose covering the game where

That’s the link I was looking at

It looks like the nrl is being shown for free across Fiji Tonga Samoa and png at the moment

So whilst there isn’t a subscription to watch nrl on tvwan you do need to buy a digicel box by looks of it.

So does that mean subscribe to digicel?

It would be interesting to see how nrl games rate over there and how it compares to the png v pm13 game at 1.15 million

It’s a bit unclear but it reads like you can watch it free but to do so you have to have a digicel box which costs 185kina ($70)

I’m guessing that seeing as it’s never mentioned in any media deal it significantly less then nz pay. Mikail do you have to pay to watch nrl on your phone or is it free like telstra app used to be?

I have to pay and subscribe to a Digicel data plan for my phone to be able to watch.
It is the same data which I can also use for my Social Media accounts.

But it is way cheaper than what I pay for my Digicel home TV subscription.

Is that a one off cost or an annual / monthly fee

If it’s the latter that’s decent for png

The TV black box decoders cost 250kina for one.
Once you have a box, you then need to pay/subscribe to a TV plan to watch programs.

There are about 150 channels some of which are always scrambled. But there's movie channels like HBO, Fox Movies, Cinemax etc, News channels CNN, Fox News, BBC, ABC etc Sports channels Euro Sports, ESPN, Fight Sports, English premier league chanel etc.

You can purchase prepaid Monthly plans at 105kina or a 14-day plan at 75kina or 7-day plan at 48kina etc.
There is even a 1-day plan at 28kina.

You can also open a postpaid account and subscribe to a plan where you receive an invoice that is payable around the 15th of each month.
Most of the corporate customers pay this way. During my previous employment with Toyota, the Company used to pay for my TV plans as part of my job benefits package and the same for most of the other middle managers too.

By the way I forgot to mention that Digicel itself has 4 channels on the Box.
1. TV Wan- mostly local content. News, Docos, etc. Digicel Cup and Santos Cup games are on here too.
2. TV Wan 2- Full of Indian/Filipino dramas
3- TV Wan Action- Sports channel. The NRL, Super League and all Hunters games during the season are shown here. Other Rugby League related shows from Fox League also come on this channel. So NRL 360, The Fan, Matthew Johns Show, Matthew Johns Podcast etc..
4. TV Wan extra- additional channel for sports. Shows Rugby Union games like the Super Rugby, France Top 14, NPC from NZ etc. Also has the cricket, Champions league soccer etc. Sometimes shows Hunters games as well when there is a timing class with NRL.

If you're subscription expires then all channels become scrambled except for Channel 1.

Is that for nrl games too. You can’t just watch it for free ?

Are the png hunters shown and do many people watch those games and the nrl games ?

Nothing is free.
The only free channel on the Box is Channel 1 which is TV Wan.
The Digicel Cup and Santos Cup are shown on this channel.

The rest of the 150+ channels need you to subscribe to a plan to watch.
Otherwise they will all be scrambled.
