It’s a Nine game so has to be switched with Sunday nine game to make it work
Because it’s the fta game
It’s a channel nine game

So would need to switch the Sunday nine game which probably isn’t doable ?
Obsessing over it being a Nine game (four times in the same post, impressive) isn't particularly important. They aren't going to move Storm-Eels at short notice to accomodate this.

They can find ways around it - has been suggested Tigers-Knights be the Nine game instead which isn't the worst idea...

That seems the most logical.

Move that game to later and postpone the Dolphins to another location/ date.

If the south’s players are flying up early then it can’t be held in Sydney

You would think Sunshine Coast and kayo will also be severely affected as will Gold Coast

If they are stuck in qld will they stand up to broadcasters and cancel it to be played later in the season or move it to another time slot this weekend in qld

Fumblers haven’t made a decision on their game either but they are talking about cancelling it and replaying it in round 3

Shame for the dolphins big crowd to start the season

Souths and Dolphins don't have a bye that lines up with each other which is annoying as that would provide a logical solution.

It's going to have to be played this week.

Is Townsville an option? Weather looks clear there although gross in terms of heat.

You’d have to think that if the game goes ahead as planned the Dolphins crowd will be negatively affected anyway

Weather forecast for Townsville appears fine -

Only issue might be travel to and from Townsville being disrupted as you'd still have to fly thru the area affected by the cyclone.

If they made the decision today, it wont be problem.

Townsville is 1300km from Brisbane and will be unaffected. Souths having to make a flight home, isn't a big deal if its to be held in Sydney also.

There comes a time when the government, be it state or federal, steps in and says 'hey numbnuts, you're not playing your game because it's too dangerous and we're not putting lives at risk'.

Better to make the decision for yourself versus looking like an absolute goose. Move/postpone the game.

Reports coming out that both QLD AFL games will be postponed. I expect NRL won't be far behind.
Nrl need to make a call today

If the players fly up into Brisbane they won’t be able to fly out till probably Friday

Postpone is the best solution but nrl being a slave to tv networks I hope they don’t play somewhere before a tiny crowd

Potentially they could juggle games between Fox and nine and play the game on Sunday at 2 pm or 630 in Brisbane assuming Suncorp is available

Afl games wouldn’t even have been impact if they weren’t trying to “rob your house”

The government run Suncorp so they can close the venue if they want

Just bite the bullet NRL and move it. We don't have the luxury of a shared bye so needs to be played elsewhere. Best options below

Townsville
Campbelltown (double header)
Melbourne (double header)

Compensate the Dolphins financially.

I would imagine they would try and get the game played on Sunday like that 2015 test match in the worst case scenario. Cancelling games is far easier said then done.

Yeh compensating the home team is another issue if it gets moved

Dolphins play Thursday night in Round 2. They can't have a 4 day turnaround, so they can't play it on Sunday.

I like the Townsville idea.
