The reason why there wasn't a larger crowd at CommBank yesterday was ticket prices. It's a no brainer.
The emptiest seats were the most expensive ones.
Those expensive seats were the tickets opposite the camera side. The cheaper seats at the ends were more or less filled.
Charging $100+ a seat for any NRL game is highway robbery.
The NRL really needs to get on top of this and try and fill stadiums.
Clubs need to stop being so greedy as well, particularly for lesser drawing games.
Some seats were $170 $120 and $90 each. Imagine taking your family for a normal round off Football.

ATM no tickets besides 20 singles available in any category except GA tickets for Good Friday!

After this win people will jump online to buy tickets and they are not available! Absolutely not good enough by ticketek open more bays on level 4!
Level 4 East is where Rabbitohs Members usually sit with the reciprocal seating arrangement the clubs have

Clubs are the ones.

The Stadium owner just says it will cost $x to host.

The exception is when games are sold. Like the Perth game coming up. Perth would of paid for the game and go about getting that money back
Nope. for the double header the nrl sets the price. For individual games at hbf park the home club sets the price. Hence the ridiculous price for dolphins game v the cheap price for double header.

Like Vegas the double header looks like an NRL event. Dolphins weren't paid to take the game over there?

I’m not sure what the current highest average for a Sydney club is but it’s not much more than 20 to 21k
By my reckoning, for a Sydney club highest average at home is for Souths in 2013 with 9 games at Accor averaging 23,358. That was on the back of 60k in the final round Vs Easts. Doesn't include the games they took elsewhere (Cairns, Perth & Gosford).
2nd best is Canterbury in 2012, 10 games at Accor averaging 22,972.
Best non-Broncos stat is the Warriors 1995 debut, 11 games at Mt Smart averaging 26,695.

$100 = empty seat. One fan fewer at the stadium, one fan more watching on TV.

$30 = occupied seat. One fan more at the stadium, one fan fewer watching on TV.

Presented with these two options, NRL choose to keep the seat empty. A conspiracy theorist might suggest that ticket prices are set by TV companies.

Not that simple. Need 3 and a bit more people to go compared to 1 at $100. Also, more people watching on TV potentially means more money that NRL can get for TV rights. But I get what you are saying, cheaper prices should result in bigger crowds and more food and merchandise sold.

Early days but the Bulldogs’ draw for the rest of the year looks alright for a push at the highest non-Broncos average. 30k+ is probably unlikely but who knows, hosting Good Friday & King’s Birthday games will definitely help.

R7 Vs Rabbitohs Fri 4:05pm (Good Friday)
R11 Vs Roosters Fri 8pm
R13 Vs Dolphins Thu 7:50pm
R14 Vs Eels Mon 4pm (King’s Birthday)
R18 Vs Broncos Fri 8pm
R20 Vs Dragons Sat 5:30pm
R21 Vs Sea Eagles Sun 4:05pm (@Allianz)
R23 Vs Warriors Sat 7:35pm
R26 Vs Panthers Thu 7:50pm
R27 Vs Sharks Sat 7:35pm

To put it in context some numbers to beat:
26540 - Highest non-Broncos average (Warriors 1995).
25562 - 2nd Highest non-Broncos average (Dolphins 2023).
23572 - Highest Sydney club average (Bulldogs 2012).
23364 - 2nd Highest Sydney club average (Roosters 2024).

Seems like demand has exploded tonight - as you'd expect - for Good Friday.

Looking at the seating map atm - GA is unavailable, Souths away reserved (single seats only) and GA (limited availability) are almost gone, and the rest of level 1 is down to single seats. If the release of seats on level 1 has been exhausted, that's effectively 30k on lock already.

Some more seats have been released on level 4 east, I expect much more of level 4 may be opened tomorrow. We might also see level 3 north on sale this week.

If eels can string together a few more wins the dogs eels will also be a massive crowd

Both fan bases would be up for the derby

Dogs panthers in the penultimate round could be determining top four positions

Tonight was a good crowd - on any metric - for a Sunday 6:00pm game. But I can't help but feel a smidgen of disappointment...mainly because I think the Bulldogs have a stratospheric ceiling this year (and I'm saying this as a Bunnies fan).

I'm slightly devo that I'll be out of the country for Good Friday, and have already located a sports bar in Hanoi where I can watch the game.
