2025 Crowd Watch

Absolute rubbish.
The emptiest area for the Eels/Dragons game on Saturday were the most expensive seats - ie. the $100+ seats.
Not everyone can afford season ticket memberships but do like to go to the odd game here and there, like this one.
Honestly, a family of 4/5/6 is looking at $300 for 90 minutes of football at these prices.
When the cheaper seats are sold out, they have no choice but to decide to watch on tv.
The 19000 crowd on Saturday could have been 23-25 000 with reasonable ticket pricing.
We can do better.
So get a 3 game or 6 game membership.

It is not rubbish that...

a) memberships make going to games cheaper
b) the game's crowds are booming at the moment (all time high)
c) lowering ticket prices guarantees higher crowds. It can, but certainly not guaranteed

Basic supply and demand economics suggests the ticket prices are right because crowds are up and clubs balance attence with revenue. More people paying less could lead to a worse financial result for clubs.

It isn't lower than all just certain categories.

Take Easter round for example, Everyone is talking up the Dogs v Souths game as a possible record breaker.

The Adult GA is $35
Roosters v Panthers $45
Tigers v Parra $45

All in Venues NSW Stadiums so the rent would be similar.

What one is going to get more neutrals?

It is Easter, You are more likely to have people back in Sydney for the weekend to see family.
Memberships are no good to those people

Crowds being at an all time high suggests, the pricing is just right. If you want cheaper tickets, buy a membership, makes games incredibly affordable. Lower prices does in no way guarantee higher crowds but guarantees lower revenue
Hmm - I know it's hard to argue given the Broncos are selling games easily, but we can use the Broncos vs Roosters game as an example here.

More expensive sideline seats in level 6 & 7 are struggling to sell, while the seats behind the post are shifting quickly. If sections 604, 638, 639, 724, 725, and 718 don't start moving, they will need to be repriced to 'corner' in order to sell.

Back in the day, levels 6 would sell out before level 5, and level 7 east would sell before north and south were open.

Black - pretty much sold out
Yellow - available

And There is a perfect example of a club who could do with cheaper GA tickets to add a few thousand in.

Maybe it gets some people to head there after work, decide live NRL and return.
Provided that they aren't holding back a heap in the level three north and south the Phins will be stoked with this. Looks on target for 20-22k, but will see what happens later in the week.

Which yes is a decent crowd and most clubs would kill for that on a Thursday night, However that is only 40% capacity.

The aim should be how can that be grown.

Would be exceptional if they can draw that for this Thursday, especially as this is arguably the weakest of their Suncorp fixtures (based upon timeslot, opponent & form).

Looking at other games this round, Knights v Wests Tigers is selling well, with GA South already sold out.

Would comfortably be at the 18K-20K at the moment based upon the sales around the rest of the ground.

Storm v Warriors is selling very strongly. Sideline tickets in lower tier are pretty much gone. Behind the posts, middle bays are selling into final rows, with just the corners holding any significant number of tickets.

Upper west Gold is selling into final couple of rows, whilst east isn't too far behind. Match trending for 25K+ (last year's fixture was 21,927).

Eels v Raiders at TIO Stadium in Darwin is not really selling. Two previous Eels v Raiders clashes up north drew 5,391 & 9527, with this game on track to land inbetween the two.

Perth double header is a bit of an unknown. I'm not sure how many of the bays behind the cameras on Level 1 were put on sale. If they all were (which I suspect), we should be entering 30K+ territory, but if not, then we may only be in 20K territory. The unfortunate carry on around the NRL franchise won't be helping matters.

wtf is ticketek doing, they haven't opened anymore bays for gold & platinum
The Bulldogs ticketing rep is responsible. Email the club (usually the membership team) and ask them about their ticketing rationale.

It seems that they are tying to influence more GA sales before opening more of level 4

Double header in Perth could be pretty ugly after this weeks news! Was expecting around 30-35k but looks like it could be nearer 20k if fans abandon it in protest. Forecast looks ok.

Oof - apologies I should have looked before commenting that. Bulldogs ticketing rep is failing.

they probably put X amount of GA up for sale on Monday and expected them to past the week

I've emailed bulldogs now to sort it out.
I also sent ticketek an enquiry through its online website.

Hopefully this gets sorted. They've probably missed out on a couple of thousand of sales today and last night alone.

Ok mate, clubs are using the strategy with all the data at their fingertips that you and I don't have. Crowds are up and so is revenue. I think it's safe to say they've got it right. It's just a fantasy to suggest that simply lowering ticket prices will magically fill stadiums. It's more likely that a few more will attend but for less overall revenue for the club. It's a balance.

Just managed to buy another for Good Friday, pax is 39865

It was 28,000 yesterday so maybe they've printed all the coporate/Stadium Member tickets etc today and closed it off for that? No chance 11,000 tickets sold when they weren't available.
