All bays except level 3 now open.
Sales have slowed down today

Unless there’s a late rush tomorrow or they open the gates 70k looks like it won’t be hit

Hope I’m wrong looks around 67k

This game could be another Anzac Day if they keep working on it down the track to sell out

Dogs eels is more of a traditional rival anyway

the only mistake they made was not opening up 624-628 sooner, people don't wanna watch from the wing

I’m gonna say 66k. Mammoth effort if it hits that. Hoping we can crack 70k but 60k plus is insane. We definitely need to stick with these marquee fixtures. It’s a shame the tigers v eels on Easter Monday has moved to CommBank. I remember them also getting 50k about 10 years back. Honestly think we should have 3 huge games at Accor on the Easter weekend to make the most of the show next door.

I reckon 67K would actually be a great result tbh. Even 65K would be good. 70K probably a bit too far out of reach.

What type of ticket did you order? Mobile? EzyTicket?

That number feels very high for a game I'd say would be more in the low to mid 20Ks (would love to be wrong though and find out the Dolphins have back channeled half the stadium).
I thought so too, it’d a mobile ticket Ticketek

CommBank is obviously the better stadium but I agree about the Easter Monday game. One year it’ll line up again with Eels & Tigers going well and they’ll be locking out 20k or more.

On that note there should be an Accor game the weekend before Easter on the first weekend of the Easter show as well. Doesn’t have to be the same every year but take advantage of the crowds/atmosphere in the area already.

They have changed about 2500 of the remaining silver seats to $10 tickets and released another 1500 or so previously unreleased blocks (2 on the western side) as $10 tickets. My guess is 602 and 601 are not yet released and might be if all the remaining $10 tickets get snapped up. It looks as though the silver seats up the back of the eastern stand are being held back now waiting for other seats to be sold. My guess is there are still about 10,000 seats remaining, the $10 seats are going fast though, and I imagine a lot of the remaining silver seats will be changed to $10 seats soon.
601 and 602 is for Souths reciprocal rights members

Souths dogs

Looks like there’s been some decent movement. 607 and 608 now both fully sold

623 which only opened this morning has almost all gone

If it’s 1 pm just open the gates to people from the Easter show to get a sell out if it’s over 70k by then

Victoria has deliberately staggered its stadiums and gets the max use out of all three as a result. Its a deliberate policy of successive governments that saw Docklands unable to be constructed over its 56,000 capacity so as to protect the MCGs interests, and Aami park unable to be easily built over 30k. Rectangle sports can take it or leave it in the southern states. They CAN be played on oval stadiums - Origins, Union tests and football matches have all been played on them, even if its not perfectly ideal.

Let's agree it was an opportune time.
"Melbourne doesn't need a larger rectangular stadium, because rectangular sports can always take games to the larger oval stadiums".

"Sorry we can't possibly reschedule a resurfacing with 12 months notice, so not able to use the bigger oval stadiums".

Would love for the NRL to try to book Docklands, wonder if they would be having a resurfacing too or just charge an exorbitant amount.

How did the MCG surface survive in 2022, when they had a game there for 23 weeks straight.

I’m sure they could make it work if they wanted to. It’s only 5 weeks in to the AFL season, when did they use to resurface before Gather Round was a thing?

How does it work with the MCG? Could Storm/NRL work with the Victorian Government to go above this guy’s head and get an event game or even double header played there on Gather Round?
