Doing the classic “does Magic round get more than the games would individually” test for this year. Doing estimates based off the same times and ‘home’ clubs regular home grounds I got 130k so even allowing for a few larger than expected ~150k at Suncorp is still ahead.

Magic round does get trickier with 9 NRL games in 2027 and eventually 10 which might necessitate a move to 4 days or splitting off a game. Personally I’d move the Broncos to Thursday night, play Women’s Origin on the Wednesday or Monday (public holiday) or another week. For the 10th game add an extra game to Saturday.

I reckon if they left Games 2 & 3 the day after the Men's Origins 1 & 2, we would have seen some amazing TV audiences for the series. Moving the matches forward so Game 2 now falls between rounds 10 & 11 so I worry it might get lost a bit whilst people aren't thinking Origin.
Yeah, I agree, by having the women`s game directly after the men`s we can also tap into that "ok so our men`s team lost, let`s see if the women can do it for us" type mentality.
It could almost become like the whole men`s and women`s series are one.

If the men continue to play on a Wednesday, then the women should follow suit the next night on a Thursday. Magic Round would eventually go to four days,

Suncorp rules are that you must be seated at all times, no standing is aloud unless otherwise
The only places you can stand are up on the platforms at the corners of level 7 (when open), the ushers will send you back if you try and stand anywhere else.

The view from the level 3 concourses is so good, but it can overcrowd easily so they send you back to your seats

Good crowd for the SOO. Hopefully it can just keep building year on year.
What i was trying to point out to you was you included Mackay in the figure which was actually further away in distance from TVL than what Cairns was......

Anyways, IMO a fair way and reasonable way of doing the crowds v population ratio would be a 100kms radius.

For NQ that would mean TVL (200k) + Ingham (5k) + Charters (10k) + Ayr (10k), which totals roughly 225k which puts NQ well in front of any other team in the NRL.
I don’t think that’s fair or reasonable. 100km in a regional area is totally different to 100km in a city. When I live in Scone I and a lot of people I knew would travel to Newcastle for games and that’s a decent chunk over 100km. It’s a pretty chill drive on a highway with no traffic.

The truth is it’s very hard to compare such different regions and populations. I generally agree though that NQLD have one of the best supporter bases in the game.

Suncorp/NRL need to start assuming those members aren’t turning up and sell their tickets. It’s the same 1000 or so rugby knobs every week.
