2025 Crowd Watch

To give people context, we haven't had a full house in Canberra for a home and away game since around the mid 90s. Didn't even come close in recent years when we ran 2nd (2016) and made the GF (2019). I believe the closest we came was in 2000 for the Daley/Mullins/Furner farewell at the end of the season. We also ran 4th that year and were in the top 4 for most of the season.

Rugba Leeg is alive and well in the ACT.
Union, not so alive and well.
That top 4 clash between the brumbies and waratahs the other week would have been lucky to have got about 10k.

The Raiders are on the front foot - it's about to sell out, and this has appeared. Might just be waiting on final approvals for numbers before they are released, but this could be really impressive.

Given the space at the concourses of each end, and extra 1000 people would be epic.

From memory isn't there plenty of room up the back at Southern end where they could have standing room or also have extra temporary seating.

In all fairness, that's due to the resurgence of the Dogs not the Raiders.

Dogs Crowds this year...

Round 1 - Sold Out Kogarah
Round 2 - Sold Out Belmore
Round 3 - Commbank 25,000
Round 4 - Sold Out Shark Park
Round 5 - Accor 24,100
Round 6 - Bye
Round 7 - Accor 65,000
Round 8 - Sold Out Suncorp
Round 9 - Magic Round
Round 10 - Sold Out Canberra

South Sydney doing well does nothing for the NRL... It's a myth!
Bulldogs are that club without a shadow of doubt!

Dogs are a big club but I think it has more to do with the story and the hard times clubs endure. It's a comeback story .
When Parramatta make a comeback ( if..) that will capture the imagination too.

Penrith 4 titles... nothing crowds now.

I wonder if the big growth in crowds is down to women being more interested due to WNRL. It’s no doubt multiple things but that’s likely one of them.
I’d like to say yes but I don’t think so. The product on the field is in a really good place and honestly I think expansion is a bigger answer. People want to support something that feels popular. The NRL expanding again really has made it feel like the game is growing again whereas for the longest time really all you hear is how the AFL is coming to eat our lunch.

On top of that there is a big crossover between rugby fans and league fans and we’re absolutely benefitting from rugbys weakness.

The WNRL has the potential to help (especially with junior playing numbers) but I don’t think it’s one of the big reasons for our sudden growth. We absolutely need to keep pushing it though as it’s one of the few areas left for sports to see big growth in this country.

I think if the tigers ever turn things around we might see something similar as well. I still maintain that one of the most impressive things about the sudden rise in crowds and ratings is that we’ve managed to do it with such stagnation at the top of the ladder. We’ve had the same teams at the top for what feels like close to a decade. When we some some of these perennial losers step up (quite a few of whom are our biggest clubs) we could see even more growth potentially.

Yeh I agree with that comeback thing

Their fans were sick of them being hopeless which wasn’t usual for dogs

They regularly won comps from the 80s until 2004

They really work hard on engaging the local community too

Driving down Burwood rd Belmore you see many dogs flags hanging on shopfronts

The Canberra media is actively shaming any members/corporates that have a ticket and aren't planning on going, haha credit where credit is due - I love to see this, and might email the Broncos, because it is a problem for us.

Apparently they've emailed members with the steps to download and share the tickets if they don't plan on attending (in addition to posting on their platforms), and Canberra times etc are running their shame pieces like the below.

It's a sellout! ........, but Raiders make plea to avoid red faces

Classic.

General admission will keep it from passing the last sell out, unless they've released a shit load of standing room tickets to account for that.
