Matilda's sellout at GIO Stadium on Monday night - almost 26000
Raiders sellout at GIO Stadium today - 19400.

Yes, granted weather conditions were worse today, but not unbearable and yes Canberran's are used to cold conditions. Go figure?

Weather being worse (pretty bad, I saw Feels Like -4) combined with member no-shows which are relatively common, and it being a long weekend. I would've expected anywhere from 18-22k

Won't argue semantics, but I mentioned the worse weather as a possible cause. 6000 difference for a sellout though?
Btw, no -4 feels like temps, but damn close I'll admit.

(This will update).

Today's weather in Canberra is not the type you take your family out to. As others have said, BOM is reporting that it feels like -4C, plus there's been rain and wind.

Good old Bruce Stadium has very little protection from the elements, so it's not surprising that not everyone who had a ticket to the match didn't turn up.

Matildas is a event and attracts a different market than the NRL does.
Yeap. Events always have a higher attendance rate than competition games, in all sports in Australia.

Higher price point, fact game usually has more significance and social credit plus the more limited opportunity to see the teams (the Matildas won't be back in Canberra again this year, Raiders still have multiple home games) all impact likely attendance.

Matildas got better weather as well, which would have helped. If the Raiders had the 3pm game yesterday, the crowd would have been larger.

Indeed. We most certainly have a different mindset in this country, when it comes to cold. Dunno why. Just put an extra Jacket on ffs. Lol.
I'd certainly rather go to a game in cold than Townsville's 30 degree 80% humidity. But, that's just me.
