I guess if perth bears are stupid enough to charge $94 for sideline and $73 for behind the sticks like the dolphins hvave done the stadium will be half empty as well lol.

would you like to make a bet that Perth don’t end up with lowest avg in 2027.
It's crazy that the sideline grandstand seats are even worse.

i found some as high as $120 (with no concession, child or family pricing) which is ridiculous for a match where the Dolphins are likely to score 50+ on the Knights and in a market that doesn't where neither team are that popular.

For comparison, the Dolphins charge $99 for the same seats at Suncorp and offer concession, child & family pricing.

I don’t think Souths moving back to Sydney Football Stadium full time will significantly improve their crowds. Anecdotally I don’t remember them pulling huge crowds there throughout the 90s or early 00s. I think like a lot of Sydney teams they face the dilemma that a large part of their supporter base has spread away from where the team is officially based.

I think a mix of games between the SFS and Stadium Australia with a game in regional NSW would be the way to go for Souths. In fact I believe all teams should be taking more games to regional areas as there are too many games in Sydney as it is.

Also I don’t think Homebush is as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I think it would be a lot easier to access for a majority of Sydneysiders, particularly with Sydney continuing to spread further west, and the biggest crowds every season in NSW are always there. The NRL just needs to be more smarter with the times matches are fixtured there and clubs need to do more to attract people to attend, particularly the new migrant communities (Dogs have certainly done a fantastic job with this).

As someone who has seen stacks of games at both venues I can tell you it's no contest. The SFS craps all over Homebush. I live much closer to Homebush than the SFS but will happily travel the extra distance to have to not go to Homebush.

Judging by the increase in Roosters crowds since the stadium has been rebuilt, It wouldn't surprise me if Souths were to average 20k or more at the SFS. Unfortunately it doesn't look like it will happen for a while.

There's a reason our crowds were shithouse in the 90s/early 00s and it had absolute nothing to do with the venue.

I remember Souths using "the majority of our fans live in the western suburbs" to support the decision to go to Homebush. Now they don't? did they all move into the towers in Zetland and Green Square since then ?

more seriously though, the new SFS is a really nice ground. I wish Saints would sign up for 2-4 games a year there. I'd even use public transport to get there... on the days when there isn't any track work coinciding with the game of course

Even with 24k on the weekend it was crap

It feels like the dogs home ground

Homebush is the worst stadium in modern history, there is not one good seat in the whole stadium, whereas commbank doesnt have a bad seat!

South's would definitely average 20k at the SFS. We are on track for 25k so the proof is in the pudding.

South's should troll the government now and for their 3 games at the SFS host roosters, dragons and tigers. Take the likes of Parramatta and Penrith to country venues and ensure the other 6 games at Accor feature dolphins, cowboys, titans, raiders, storm and knights.

Took until game day to sell out
It was also the most expensive of the 3 games this year to buy tickets. Theoretically, the perfect event planning and ticketing priced event, would sell out on the day. Means they have got the highest price they possibly could, whilst selling all of the tickets -> maximum revenue whilst still full.

To say there are no good seats at ACCOR Stadium is factually incorrect. The problem is there are too many bad seats at a core stadium for rug purposes.
Even the best seats are average compared to new builds or even Suncorp

With stadia like Allianz and commbank the less club games there the better

Clubs are too self-interested.

For example, Souths vs Roosters should always be at Allianz, always a revenue share between the two clubs, and always marketed the heck out of by both clubs, for every head-to-head match there. It would never get less than 35k.
