How come? timetable has a train leaving Penrith station at 6.26pm and arriving at Parra station at 6.51pm. 10min walk or tram down to stadium from station.
These trains don't stop at my station. Have to get the all stations ones. Rather unpleasant after a night game and takes twice as long as that. Traffic a nightmare around Parramatta-Westmead. Parked in the streets near Westmead station and got the light rail. It was free but took at least half an hour. And finally, cost over $200 for 2 adults and a child for seats near the goal line.

So it actually takes 35-45min to get from Penrith train station to Parra stadium?
Sure if you live a long way west of Penrith it makes it longer but thats just stretching excuses as fans will often live all over, no doubt many Penrith fans live East of Penrith as well.
For me I have to walk 10mins to bus stop, 15mins bus to train, 20min train to city, 15min walk from station to HBF. No hardship and I wont be missing a Bears game and blaming just a 60min each way trip!

Still if clubs want to scrape along in suburban grounds thats up to them, thankfully for Penrith they've been lucky enough to be gifted a stadium so Parra is temp and the fans wont be inconvenienced for too long!
How would you feel if Perth had 4 teams... let's call them north, south east and west. Let's assume you are a supporter of south Perth and the stadium is a 10-20 minute drive. All of a sudden they tell you they are going to play their games an hour away in the territory of the North Perth team. Would you be happy with that?

Of course Id love a stadium at the end of my street so I could walk there in 5mins. But if it takes me 60mins on public transport then so be it, the investment of my time in supporting my team. Its no hardship 11 days a year to do that.

Ah the old 'you dont live here you couldnt possibly know about getting public transport ' excuse.

Yeh not like I dont work for UoW and spend lots of time in Sydney, a train ride is a train ride in any city lol
Go you. You are just spinning a line that supports your never ending negative agenda about Sydney clubs. The fact you think you are better informed about Sydney travel than the people that actually deal with Sydney travel daily is just plain embarrassing.

All good mate.

That is true which is unfortunate. Regardless I hope they can eventually get some government funding to upgrade the joint. I don't want to see them stop playing there.
As I've said elsewhere, the reason we don't get government funding for it is we own the ground and the entire land around it.

Virtually all the grounds that have had a redevelopment are owned by the government through Venues NSW.

I'd imagine any deal for funding from the NSW state government would be to give up ownership of the ground and land and hand it to VenuesNSW which would be a very bad deal.

Give us a break. He lives in Perth. He knows the Sydney train system better than locals because he says so! Can’t argue with a smart ass know all mate!

Whilst I completely understand that people would rather attend games in their local area then travel 30-60 mins, let's not act like Sydney's public transport is the worst in the country. Sydney is often ranked best in the country when it comes to public transport. Here are a few examples:

How Australia's biggest cities rank for public transport access

Sydney ranked best public transport in Australia

Sydney public transport ranked best in Australia

Hopefully clubs like Cronulla and Manly can get their stadiums funded and modernised, but the longer they go without funding, more questions about their home grounds are going to be asked.

How the f**k did you come to that conclusion?

You are seriously acting pathetic. All I said was that the longer these venues go without funding, the more questions that will be asked about their future, which is true. This same shit is happening in Canberra right now.

You need to stop acting like a victim and grow the f**k up.

Settle petal. Not everybody has to agree with you. You throw shit at a club all day every day and you’ll get a response every time.

Just because the suburbs that the AFL clubs are named after are within 10 minutes of city . Doesn't mean the fans live there.. Melbourne is also spread out
The inner city transport around Melbourne seems specifically designed to get you easy access to stadiums. It’s very noticeable getting to Marvel, the MCG and AAMI. Getting to Accor is a nightmare.
