Sydney trains have always copped a bad rap and sometimes it is justified. The greedy rail union certainly hasn't helped the situation with their recent sabotage.

But yes in general Sydney has the best public transport in the country. Certainly in terms of frequency, patronage and the stations and trains themselves.

The new metro will be a game changer for Olympic Park.
I used to go down for one Origin game a year with a mate. Either Sydney or Melbourne, once to Perth and Adelaide we lost to Covid.

One time in Sydney, we were running for a bus but not sure where we had to be. Got to a bus, asked the driver if this bus would take us to whichever game we were going to.

"Nah mate, you need a train ticket to ride this bus."

I thought, "What is this? The Twilight Zone?" I knew what he hadn't explained and had a train ticket in my jacket from the previous day. "I've got one" I said for gits and shingles.

Straightfaced, he examined my ticket and told me, "Nah mate, that's a through ticket. You need an express train ticket to ride this bus."

I had nothing.

What I love is that in a thread full of people ripping on Sydney for poor crowds when the many reasons this is the case are brought up, we'll get people who jump in to defend the crowds at QEII, because...reasons!
Reason 1. The lowest average at QE2, and the only one under 20k, was 19,298, in 1997 (guess what year that was). In Sydney, the entire 20th century produced one 20k average - Eels in 1986.

QEII might not be far from the city but is an absolute nightmare to get to. No trains and limited carparks. The only way is a bus. Which is f**king horrible to line up for. Suncorp was built at a train station.
Disagree with this. Could park at Garden City and the free buses ran in a loop to QE2. Getting home though, yeah, that was a hell of a queue when tens of thousands of people were all leaving at once. Luckily for me I had a mate who lived within walking distance so we could park at his more often than not.

Crowds increased by 50% once they moved back to Lang Park.

So it's quite obvious that Brisbane fans were sensitive to something about QEII and that had a pretty massive impact on crowds, and people always seem to roll out the excuses.

It's not a shocking revelation that the rebuilt Suncorp is much better than QE2. But the old Lang Park wasn't. The highest average there was 22,709. Even the lower QE2 crowds weren't so bad compared to that.

Wow, so you are saying that factors play into the crowds a stadium can attract?

Well blow me over with a feather!

Now let's apply that logic to other markets!

You're a Pommy wanker with an psychotic irrational hatred of a club from the other side of the world in a country you've never been to, never set foot in and probably never will.
you’re absolutely right mate, I truly hate the fact that cronulla sharks are dragging down a competition that is currently flying.

the NRL can do and deserves better.
You're no friend of mine, who'd need enemies with a tosser like you as a friend.
who said anything about being friends mate?
The only weak minded individual here is yourself.
you’re weak minded mate because your political views can be changed by the opinions of others on completely different issues.
Worry about the UK and the binfire that is the English leagues.
deflection.
55 years without a series win over a country with nearly 50% less of the population is embarrassing.
another deflection.
Nearly 50% of that team is deceased.
yet another deflection.

Just worry about your own f**king country before worrying about what happens in ours.

Your own league is an absolute shitshow full of reserve graders and pensioners from here for one last payday that's how shit it is.

England sucks!

I've got a strong feeling the bloke is special needs and uses the forum and social media to make him feel like a big man to feel better about himself.

Seen that situation a lot over the years.

Think @Vlad59 has better things to do with his life than private message a headcase such as yourself.
Naah I did. Just reminded him about forum rules that’s all because he’s struggled with them in the past. Back on topic. Hoping for over 30000 for the two games tonight. Sea Eagles game might be interesting as it’s not a great time slot on Sydney. If knights can break over 20000 it should help things overall this weekend.
