2025 Crowd Watch

The Panthers have the worst fans in the game. They do not travel at all even to watch their all-conquering team. They have zero growth prospects.

They should play next seasons home games in Bathurst.

It's not a good crowd, correct.

But anyone who suggests Penrith has zero growth prospects is an absolute light weight that has no understanding of the long term growth profile of Sydney.

Bluebet to commbank is a half an hour drive on the freeway (37 kms)

Centralised stadiums just don’t work in Sydney and people who want them just have no clue

Panthers crowds have been decent at commbank I was worried it could be under 10k

This is hopelessly reductive bullshit.

Penrith's poor crowds at Commbank are to do with it being a temporary home ground.

Despite the bs commentary I think the Dragons 'right venue right ground' strategy has some merit - even if they botched the exection.

NRL can never leave behind suburban grounds fully but stadium consolidation and increased use of larger modern venues is CLEARLY the future.

The fact it’s half an hour away is bc it’s not their actual home ground

Tigers tried to make commbank their home ground how did it go

You might remember when the dogs tried to make the old parramatta stadium there home ground and how that failed

Playing an odd game game at Allianz or Accor is not the same thing as centralised stadium as afl do

Sharks couldn’t even get a crowd at kogarah how’s Allianz going to work

The afl model won’t work in Sydney. And if anything its a good thing clubs playing football in their local districts rather than sharing two stadiums

You continue to say dumb reductive shit without actually properly engaging in the discussion.

I didn't at any point say we should adopt the AFL model - they fully abandoned suburban grounds. We shouldn't. But we can't be having teams playing full seasons at grounds with 10, 15k, 18k capacities. Not good enough for a constantly growing sport.

Why is it dumb and reductive?
I don't get your argument.
Sharks, Manly, Penrith, Illawarra, Campbelltown aren't positioned to use shared facilities and don't have populations to warrant large stadiums. The most that can be done is push for better facilities.
He's right, the geography of Sydney will never suit large central stadiums for half the Sydney clubs.
