2025 Crowd Watch

Whilst this is great news in general and good ammunition to push for a suncorp upgrade, will this be a help or hindrance to bronx crowds next year?

Obviously someone who buys a ticket 1 or 2 weeks before a game is less likely to have some type of schedule clash and will therefore attend the game compared to a member, unfortunate but just how it is.

Do you know if they are looking at a member seat return/re-sale program? Would be great if stadium members needed to pre book for high demand games and any leftover seats could be sold to the public as well.

At the very least, the dolphins suncorp games may see an increase if that is the only way for a general fan in brisbane to catch a live game in a good seat.

I think overall it will continue to shave a few thousand off the crowd. Ticketed memberships are now a way to hold the better seats, and most members probably only attend 60-70% of games depending on weather, other commitments etc. Quite a few are held by businesses too.

I'd love for them to work out a member seat return/re-sell program. Manly do it the best, but it's much easier for them as both their membership and general public seats are through ticketmaster. Broncos use ticketmaster for our memberships, but Suncorp is a ticketek venue, so the Broncos ticketing manager needs to go between systems to make seats available again. Could still be done, but they'd need a team to manage it, which is surely available to the Broncos if they want to do it.

What's even crazier is that there are probably only 6,000 cheap seats left for Broncos games. They could easily sell the level 7 ends as ticketed memberships if they want - then general public will only have level 7 east and half of level 6 west to fight over. If this happens, every game next year will sell out, but attendances will still sit around the 42-46k mark.

Yep. When I was a Bulldogs season ticket holder, I'd attend 7-8 matches a year. I'd try and give away my tickets to others to use, but usually there was a reason, like the middle of June/July against rubbish teams missing origin stars etc that no one wanted them. But I'd have no problem in this day and age, helping my club, but validating via say an email a week or two before to confirm I'm attending that match, otherwise my ticket goes back into the pile. Maybe they could make it better that if you respond to each email, you get a $50 gift voucher to the club store or something.

Should have the first test at Tottenham (would of loved the first game to be at Newcastle's St James Park) and 3rd test at Elland Road.
Just don't get how NFL can sell out Wembley and TGG can not.
The NFL is clearly bigger in southern England. The South needs more investment.

Do you have any idea if they are going to implement something like this, or at least a system to sell unused Suncorp stadium members' seats? I renewed my flexi-membership (can't commit to a full season with young kids), but looking at the available seats map for full season memberships, I can't see how everyone with a flexi-membership will be able to get tickets to certain games.

The way they are selling, I wouldn't be surprised if there are no tickets available to the general public for most games. It would be a massive shame to have the majority of games sold out with 8-10k empty seats.

I don't think they'll ever make Suncorp Stadium members confirm attendance and have them resold.

I think flexi members will be pinned into 514, 530, 533, but if too late might be shunted upstairs. Not sure. Agree, it is a shame. I think if this happens in 2026 they might consider cancelling memberships with poor attendance like they do in the NFL.

What are the crowds looking like for the weekend ?

Is 10k in png and 20k in nz too optimistic

If nz v Samoa doesn’t get that it will be very disappointing

There's been some movement, especially in the past 24hrs, though it will need to start accelerating for 20K+. Black represents the sold out areas of Mt Smart... I've assumed that corporate areas have already been filled by the NRL and NZRL (which generally is a pretty safe assumption).

There are random patches, especially on the second level of both grandstands which are currently marked as sold. Hopefully these have been allocated through other means and won't be released later. I'd say at the moment we're around the 12K mark.

NZ Rugby League quoted within noting they expect crowds to be down in NZ due both matches being played on a Sunday, and Samoan/Tongan supporters opting for Church in place of footy. Also that the matches are on at 6pm Sunday night NZ time.

SMH state the Sunday time slot was chosen to avoid clash with the spring racing carnival which is frankly bizarre, but does pick that the timing of this entire Pacific Championship has been undertaken to provide Nine with content on a Sunday arvo in a lead in for the news. It is what it is.

NZ Rugby Legaue are expecting:

- 20,000 at Mt Smart
- 40,000 at Eden Park

SMH cite that the crowd expected for Brisbane is 40,000 (an increase in figures we've seen quoted no?)

As an aside, off the dome - this must be tracking at the best attended post season ever, across both hemispheres.

NRL.com keeps talking 50K
The fierce rivals will do battle at Suncorp Stadium in front of an expected crowd of 50,000 with Samoan fans rushing to snap up tickets for the contest.

Samoa and Tonga will meet for the first time on Australian soil since 2018 and unlike their previous matches at Campbelltown or on the Gold Coast, the October 26 Test is at Suncorp Stadium before a potential 50,000 crowd.

I don't think we'll get to 50K, though if we can edge 40K at Suncorp that would be a huge boost for the international game.

Great 👍

is there a culture of doing so in New Zealand?
Tongan & Samoan supporters have a reputation of buying late, including on the day in decent numbers.

NZ v Samoa in 2023 sold over 15K in the 7 days leading up, including 5K on game day. NZ v Tonga at Mt Smart moved 10K in the 7 days leading up, selling out the game.

Tonga v Australia at CommBank moved over 20K in the 7 days leading up.

Late kick off and it being a sacred day for both communities may hurt. Hopefully they all go to church in the morning and go in big numbers to the games.

Maybe fans have had such a good thing with the NRL this season that they are zonked out ?

Have they jacked up the prices for tickets for Go Media Stadium ?

Looking at ticketek it's $85 gold, $65 silver, $30 bronze.

How does this compare to warroirs games ?

I find it strange the warroirs sell out every game but the national team can only half fill the stadium.

Just goes to show how far international footy still has to go to win over the fans .
