People will come to these international games more when we have a consistent international schedule and the games are competitive. Until then, people have very little reason to invest their hard earned money into brands which barely exist

We've had post season tournaments every season this century outside of the COVID years, it's not like people don't know by now that internationals are played after the GF.

Great Level 6 sales today for Samoa v Tonga. 1 bay of level 7 east has now been put on sale. Means every side and every level will be populated.

Great time slot for Brisbane crowds, not so great for NZ. I can't imagine many people would want to attend two Sunday 6:05 pm kick-off games in the space of three weeks, which is reflected in ticket sales. Seems like most would prefer the NZ v Tonga game.

It should be a lesson learnt for the NRL.

Australia - Cup games on Sunday. Bowl games Saturday.
NZ - Cup games on Saturday. Bowl games on Sunday.

Any UK Aussie Ambassy communication ? I didn't find it

54,569 is an oddly specific number to put out in a press release leading up to a match.
that was the crowd for the 1st test in 1990 at Wembley.
Anyway still in the hunt for 60K with only 5,431 tickets needing to be sold between that release and kick off and even less to beat the 57,034 record for an Ashes Test in the UK.
57,034 is the next target goal.

Hopefully they sell 60k and are able to give away thousands of tickets to schools etc and get to a 65k crowd on the day. This will look respectable.
I think people really need to get away from the thousands of empty seats aspect as Wembley Stadium is ridiculously too big at 90k for a RL game.

60k for a RL international in England is phenomenal let alone a RL international in London.

Agree or if you have to keep the NZ games on the Sunday, then play them earlier.

Even a 5pm kick off would have made tonight's game an easier sell. Not everything has to be done to Channel 9s preferred times.

NZ v Samoa continues to fill, especially in the Bronze categories. I'd estimate we're around the 17K-18K mark currently, so getting to 20K isn't beyond the realms of possibility, but I don't see us going much over.

Closest sales comparison at Mt Smart in recent times would be Warriors v Sea Eagles in Round 2 (Announced as 21,212). That game had a lot more sales in the main grandstands, but less in the southern stand in the morning of the match.

Anyway, this is what the sales map is looking like. Still some big chunks upstairs in both the main grand stands,

Maybe.

all depends on who at this late stage is buying the tickets whether it’s RL fans in the north or curious general sports fans in London and the south east region.
You know what, there`s been a lot of pessimism on the Pommy forums about the crowd but I been thinking for a while that they might see a big rush as the game got nearer, but not as late as one week out, but certainly nearer, this appears to be happening now and a week is a very, very long time, and there appears to be momentum building, a thousand tickets a day is nothing, mad if they can go over the 65k mark, especially with Vlad and the owner of DAZN being there. Great selling point.

Nine won’t allow that and with the tv deal being negotiated they want to make the pacific cup as attractive as possible to Aussie tv

Looks like they got the pricing wrong given the target market with bronze tickets moving so much

Unless theres been a massive surge in sales specifically in 4, 5 and 6 (and no where else) - it looks like they've taken these seats off sale. These are probably the most important bays in the TV arc.

I'll hold off judgement until we see the final result - but if these are empty on kickoff - the NZRL have absolutely botched the marketing and sale of this game.

Edit - actually I might be mixing up which side is the TV arc. If its the bottom stand on the sales page that is the TV arc stand - thats worse - even more seats available there.

Although Samoa vs Tonga will draw a great crowd at Suncorp Stadium, it does make me wonder what this fixture could've got at Accor Stadium (as crap of a venue as it is, in terms of the slope/gradient of the rows of seats) on a sunny Sunday arvo such as today.

More specifically, the Sydney and Brisbane metro markets, as those are the two markets of most importance to Ch9 (in terms of advertising revenue).

Fans need to realise that for as long as Ch9 are involved in RL broadcasting, this will always be the status quo.

I think having 2 games in Auckland at 6:05 pm was the biggest mistake. Getting home around 9 pm isn't a great start to the work week. Fine for a once-off, but not ideal twice in 3 weeks. Looks like people are prioritising the Tonga game over this one.

2027 should have 1 game at Eden Park with the other at Te Kaha.
