Smith has never been a 80 or even 60min 9. He was lock who can play 9 when his team has a roll on. He can't do f**k all to gain his team momentum but he does very well if others create it for him.
One of the worst signings in history
Robbo might not be responsible for recruitment on his own

But it’s been bad for ages

Club needs to change and stop trying to buy titles and stick with the junior pathways including central coast which they’ve largely ignored

Hollbrook has a good cv he will take over when it’s time

Robbo should be under pressure for the mis-management of their squad. It shows how much influence Uncle Nick has on the media that the Roosters abysmal roster management isn’t under intense scrutiny. You can bet your bottom dollar that if the Eels or Tigers had seen the sort of talent turnover in 1 off season like what the Roosters have just had, there’d have been constant calls for both the head coach and the football management team to be gone.
How the Roosters have let so much experience go in 1 off season, with barely any replacements of note is mind boggling. And it’s not only the out of contract guys, there’s then Tuipinua (however it’s spelt) who’s a good solid first grader, let go early, and the most bizarre one, Terrell May, who’s a beast - doesn’t drink, doesn’t gamble, supposedly a quiet family man who doesn’t get into trouble (but is from a merkin family), yet they let him go for ‘cultural reasons’. There’s been a couple of half jokey remarks about that in the media, but nobody has put the blowtorch on them - if the Eels or Tigers let a player like May leave, with that sort of wishy washy reasoning, and no superstar replacement, the journos would have been camping outside the clubs to hammer them for the exact reason.
There is no excuse for a club like the roosters to lose that much talent in 1 off season, and not have adequate replacements. So, if not Robbo, whose fault is that? Because that’s why the Roosters will be shit this year.

No need to over-analyse it. Just sit back and enjoy the year. Roosters ... Broncos... playing like shit is a rare occurrence that should be savoured with some fava beans and a nice chianti.

Aren't teams supposed to spend 95% of their salary cap each year? Well the Roosters have lost or let go Manu, Keary, JWH, May, Suaalii, Tupouniua so that's got to be close to 3m of talent. The only gain is Chad Townsend so have they upgraded everyone? Where has the money gone?

They will have front loaded everyone. This money will then sign Ponga and others

Complete rubbish

There is literally 3 articles about it today lol and all of them know about a much as the roosters squad as you.

Terrell May I agree with you, that's a head scratcher. The others are completely fine.

Let's analyse your claim of no replacements.

Keary retired (ended up going to SL). He finished one year earlier than anticipated. Sandon Smith gets first crack and it's expected they will recruit for next season.

JWH - went to SL for a retirement tour. Our prop rotation is Collins, Leniu, Butcher, Whyte, Va'a and Steep. Three of those were unavailable on Thursday.

Suali'i/Manu - both went to union. Manu will likely be back next year. Toia is highly touted and just debuted. Marky Mark has played two games now.

Sitilli - this has to be my favourite one. He probably doesn't make our full strength 17 yet apparently he is the worst recruitment mistake in history. Our starting 2nd towers are Crighton and Radley, you want to argue he is better than either of them? Next in line are both Butchers, Wong and Whyte. Two of those players weren't available on Thursday and Radley lasted 10 minutes. Depending on what you want to do at lock, at least two of those missing out on a full strength 17.

You people really need to make up your mind...

The club is being blasted for NOT going to market and believing in all the guys coming through, they had 3 debutants on the weekend. There are plenty of guys from the CC program in the top 30 that will get games this season.

If chookies do persevere then sure I will praise them

Just can’t see them not trying to buy their way out of this situation like they always do

It’s their dna

Let’s hope the rumours of ponga are just bs

And manu not coming back now there’s an extra 500k a year

They will have to go to market as well, both are required.

No let’s hope the Ponga rumours a true.

Would be the cherry on top of disaster marquee signings for them.

They've been spending 150% for over a decade, their salary cap is just having a long overdue haircut

Sensational response

Weird you don't want to talk about the roosters roster anymore.

Imagine thinking letting sitilli go was a mistake. You have NFI.
I never mentioned that plodder sweetheart.
And NFI? I told you exactly what would happen in last years finals series and it played out just how I said.
