The storm were honestly bog average all year, it was only the shit standard of comp that had them finishing 2nd. That first half was brilliant but they haven’t put in 80 mins all year so no real surprise what Happened. As good as their spine is they all look frantic in big, close games. I could be wrong but it feels like they are losing them more often than not.

Interesting year for them next year. The last 2 teams to lose B2B grand finals missed the finals the following year. Emotionally it must be so tough to back up from. Whilst still obviously good they’ve felt very stale the last 3 or so years. Papenhuyzen is the obvious one to move on, wouldn’t be against Munster going either.
I think Bellamy is such a perfectionist that once the Storm are deep in the finals they just don’t have another gear to go to. For their level of dominance over the past 20 years they have 5 grand final wins and 6 losses. They also have a lot of prelim exits in there as well.

That last team was us but we did lose Freddy that season and a host of others. I cant see any way they miss the 8 whilst Bellamy is there with that spine but yes its hard to see where they are going and why next year won't be another top 4 finish resulting in getting outplayed in the finals.

It's equally as interesting for me for Brisbane because they aren't your typical premier and the circumstances of their run is going to be almost impossible to replicate. They hardly set the world on fire during the regular season, they were just the team that were able to take advantage of the warriors capitulating to finish 4th. From there they played 3 good halves of football out of 6 whilst being double digits down in each game. They also had their FB provide an all time form run at the right time. It's very difficult to see anything like that happening again for them.
Pretty good time to come up with your best 3 halves of football tbf.

Happy for one Broncos fan. My ill mother who has spent several weeks in hospital this year, but that's it.
The rest of you are lucky that your footy club is a rich club that wins premierships every so often as there isn't anything else to like about your city. I'm so glad my parents moved from there so I was brought up in Sydney.

Absolutely. I just dont think it's something that is repeatable and the last team madge got over the line went downhill pretty quick.

The age of our first choice halves combination will tell you that we’re not about go start a dynasty of our own. After the 2015 and 2023 losses, it doesn’t get much better than this.

Apart from the Storm and Panthers in recent years, is that the norm though? I mean, most teams do have that window and maybe it's one Premiership, maybe it's a couple in a 3-4 year period, but then they cycle out.

Maybe a club like Brisbane didn't used to be like that, but maybe the norm is that they will be and that's the accepted thing now. I think they're good enough next year to make the 8 easily.

Or maybe that's an Eels fan who would take 7 straight wooden spoons happily if they came after a Premiership year....
