So why does the Accor deal mean you can't play your first game of the season at home?
Every year there's something on at Accor in March that takes precedence over the footy. Adele, Monster Trucks, whatever. We seem to miss out on the early season crowd buzz (save for Good Friday), and play the bulk of our footy there in and around the Origin period when no-one cares.

This:
Accor out of action for Round 1, hosting Race of Champions.

I imagine the Race of Champions will impact more than just the first round. When it's been held at other sporting grounds in the past, generally nothing has been played at the same venue for 3-4 weeks afterwards. Maybe that's more coincidental than anything else, though I'd be surprised if laying down a race track and having two full days of racing (plus testing, setup, removal, etc) doesn't have any impact on the pitch.

2021 Souths' season started with 2 away games
2022 Souths' season started with 2 away games
2023 Souths' season started with 3 away games
2024 Souths' season started with 3 away games

... and now we'll start 2025, again, away from home.

That Accor deal is a bloody noose around our necks.
Why not a bye for round 1 instead?

News Corp leaks begin! This report suggests Brisbane's new Magic Round opponent will be reigning premiers Penrith, who themselves are a home team in 2025 as a result of their temporary home ground arrangements.

The same masthead suggests the Dolphins could host the Rabbitohs at Suncorp Stadium in Round 1, which would bring former Dolphins boss Wayne Bennett back to face his former charges in the first competitive game of the year.

The draw "should be released mid-November", per Dean Ritchie's reporting.

Is this the NRL or Penriths way of saying no to the WCC. Logistically it’d be a nightmare to play mid-season, yet somehow the Broncos managed it mid season in the 90’s

Dolphins have had a Sunday afternoon match for Round 1 the past two seasons, so I wonder if the intention is to play this match then?

Be interested to see if VenuesNSW got their request for Eels v Bulldogs to be played Round 1 again as well.

Dolphins
Suncorp Stadium - allocation TBC
Kayo Stadium - allocation TBC
Dolphins have confirmed with their 2025 membership packages that they'll play 9 games at Suncorp and 2 at Kayo.

Hasn't been confirmed yet, but likely their 12th home game will be in Perth.

The AFL has beat the NRL to the punch and scheduled swans to play at SCG for their ridiculously named opening round (lines up with NRL round 1) on Friday March 7 so there goes any chance of the SFS hosting a a game that night.

Giants play on the Sunday at 3:30 which would be prime opportunity to put the bulldogs on against anyone really at Accor but the stadium isn't available.

Was there a proposed game for the SFS that night? I haven't seen anything unless it refers to that Eora Round concept from a long time back, but I think that idea has been and gone.

Plenty of venues that can be used and even then I feel like the NRL could successfully schedule a Roosters game that night anyway, and it'd still get 30k+

Plenty of other time slots for the Roosters if they get a home game Rnd 1.
