It's the biggest money spinner in our game and is still going strong so yes

Moronic to suggest otherwise
It's currently the biggest money spinner in the game, but that doesn't mean it will stay that way. The NRL is thinking towards the future with its' expansion of the game, hence why we should be doing likewise with Origin. I don't want to kill the concept at all - I simply think we can expand it...

Well that's where you're working at cross purposes mate. Expanding it kills it. It only works because its only between Qld and NSW and the volatile history the 2 states share. Artificially trying to create that between anyone else is stupid and pointless.

You say it might not stay the way it is yet provide no evidence to think its even close to slowing down, its in fact gotten bigger nearly every series since it started 40+ years ago. What the NRLs vision is for the future of the comp has very little to do with SOO. If international expansion is what's needed then it needs to be done at that level.

Build something else if you want but leave SOO to itself.

Laurie is clearly right handed...at least they way our left side starved most of the game.

The one time we really attacked left against the rookie centre we got a try, but the left half was given 65% of the ball the right got. We won but the coaching didn't look great
Daley told them to attack right because he heard that Thurston was defending out there with a busted shoulder.

Has there ever been a softer team moment in origin than the entire qld side deciding they dont want it with spencer and not kicking off to him, absolutely gutless, you got JT on the staff ffs and you run and hide from spencer, cowards. Easily the most un-origin like moment from QLD ever.

The entire team went full Ben Creagh.

Especially since Spencer is just as likely to drop the ball and or give a penalty away in possession..

Yep. Look at the balls up AFL's Origin series turned into when they brought in "the Alliance", it went downhill fast, so much so it literally killed the whole concept.

Problem (and the people from the southern states might be able to elaborate a bit more) is that the Alliance had no clear identity for people to rally behind. Simply being NOT something isn't really an identity people are going to invest in. Whereas the Kiwis have a clear identity, PNG has a clear identity, Tonga and Samoa have clear identities. But put them against the Aussies and (usually) the Aussies will account for them easily. It's why Origin left Test football behind as the pinnacle of the game, and also why the old Interstate series was scrapped for the Origin concept. But if you put NZ or PNG against just NSW or Qld, it would be a more consistent contest, on top of giving those teams more experience against quality opposition.

You might have had a point if not for the fact NZ, Tonga and Samoa are now competitive with Australia. Even PNG is on the bubble.

So again, your idea is misguided and pointless

NZ can beat Australia for silverware, but would you say the others are capable or look to be capable of beating a full-strength Kangaroos team at the pointy end?
