This was moronic when it was floated years ago and its still moronic now.

Would be like working out the perfect rum and coke mix then "improving it" by adding vodka and orange juice
A best of 3 game between 2 sides can only grow to a certain size. When we're playing one game every season in an expansion state and one side will never be allowed to fully dominate because it's "Bad for business Origin" on top of how the series disrupts an NRL season that is catering to far more than just the people of NSW and Qld, it's worth considering how we could make the series bigger. Origin is based on a version of the game that existed in 1980 but ceased to exist long ago.

I'm not suggesting we ad vodka and orange to the glass of rum and coke, but that we should also offer screwdrivers on the same drinks menu as rum and coke.

You do realise you're talking about a tournament where the best countries in the region play each other. Fantastic idea! We can call it something like the Pacific Championship

Almost sounds like its already a thing.....

There was 1 moment that summed up where Origin is at nowadays…. When Spencer came on, and QLD bottled kicking it to him.
In years gone by, they’re kicking it straight to him and trying to belt the living shit out of him.
But nowadays, we all like and respect each other, we daren’t say a bad word about each other pre-game, there’s ZERO hype, because in reality, they’re not able to go at it anymore. They keep talking about Suncorp being intimidating, and questioning if it’s lost its aura - well it has, because part of the aura was knowing there was gonna be a stink and the crowd would be all over it. Nowadays it’s just so tame. Yes it’s a high standard of rugby, but it’s no different to an international game really. The hatred is gone.
PVL should be looking at the fastest growing sport in the world (MMA), and recognise that the general public lap up the violence, lap up the hatred (there’s a reason PPV boxing always have a blow up/hatred story in the build up) - if Origin continues down this tame build up, the golden goose will soon be on life support.

DCE has copped a ,lot of brickbats for his performance last night, and Grant was obviously targeted by the NSW side as they ran at him so much just to exhaust him (successfully), however how poor was Cameron Munster? I couldn't get over how he's talked up as a "big game" player but for mine he's continued his ordinary club from this year to Origin 1 last night. He was absolutely shite!

Also Slater needs to realise, you need to go forward first before going sideways in attack. It took NSW ages to get away from the garbage "pick a heap of back rowers, few specialist front rowers" in the side. Now NSW picks a good balance so they have those big bopper front rowers who will take it up the middle to keep the team on the front foot. Qld certainly didn't do that, they kept trying to run around NSW which made it very easy for the NSW defence.

Probably the worst standard origin Game I’ve seen. Have watched better 6pm Friday games.

NSW clunky attack and terrible attacking structure coaching kept qld in it. The 2-5 for blues is absolutely elite though, I could see that being the line up for the next 5 years considering their ages.

Theres more then a couple of qlders who look like origin has passed them by.
Knights, Eels and Dragons play a lot at 6pm Friday so this comment has been confirmed as Fake News.

Harry Grant playing eighty minutes in last year's GF won Penrith the game.

A planned sixty minutes on the field and he would give opposition coaches nightmares. The full game and he is a target for the forwards and a fatigued small man in the defensive line.

His best club season was 2021 with Smith spelling him at dummy half.

Like Munster he has no appreciation for the grind and wants to break the game open on every set.

Those breaks were more because of Latrell than anyone else. His 20 minutes of shittery after the embarrassment of gifting them their only try was the best chance they had of getting into the game. He was a gift to QLD that they took with only one hand instead of two. NSW are not in a position where we need to take selection risks for flashes of brilliance.

Slater was outcoached by NSW greatest ever player last night. He was also beaten at the selection table. It serves him right for picking bums like Loiero just cos he plays for the Storm (which Slater admitted) ahead or Horsbrugh. Collins and Fotuaika also shouldn't have been selected ahead of Big Red. Toia was also a stupid selection (although he done ok I guess). Xavier Savage should've been in the side. Fogarty should also be the 7.

NSW 3 - 0.
I'll be happy for Loz if/when he wins a few series. He's not a good coach but he doesn't deserve to be the joke many see him as these days.

Good guys won, so happy enough with that. Bit of a meh game though. Couldn't split Lomax, Yeo and Hass for MoM. All 3 were immense.

Interesting hearing Joey speculating if there was an issue with the balls. Kicking in general from everyone was way below par.

Agree that QLD were beaten at the selection table and due to injuries. I think it's a completely different game if the likes of Sam Walker, Cobbo, Horsburgh, Gilbert, Walsh and others were available and played.
