Yeah I smell a Souths comeback.Blocker and Smith writing off Souths already
Well they’re up against Galvin mate so…Blocker and Smith writing off Souths already
I love Wayne and he has been great in reuniting the club after it imploded last year but…
a game like today’s where he is up against a new generation coach like Ciraldo who has brought the dark arts wrestling stuff from Penrith to the Dogs shows him up again because Wayne has never embraced that Bellamy style.
But, as ever, when Souths play against a side that dominates the rucks, they are forever on the back foot while the other side is playing the whole game off the front foot. The result is a certainty and its a case only of how much.
Has the game finally passed Wayne by?
Jye unaware it was the last tackle
He is luke warm on the wrestling out of necessity and has adapted many times throughout his long career but he has not been cutting edge the way Cleary and now Ciraldo have in bringing in MMA fighters to train the players to the next level. The difference is stark and there for all to see evey tackle and ruck.the last time he coached Souths there were very much embracing the wrestle and were probably the most effective at doing it those seasons. He has been pretty adaptable during his career from a fast flowing broncos team to making a game plan of slowing the game as much as possible to suit his St George squad. The thing he has lost is his ability to influence interpretation of rules, it used to be like clockwork 2 weeks out from finals he would say the game was stale due to wrestling and suddenly the storm (usually the biggest threat to his team) were getting pinged for everything. Now the media don’t jump on his bandwagon and no traction for influencing the officiating
