Ran the wrong line and obstructed. Defender was attempting to slide across. Wouldn't have made a difference with the overlap.

I guess it depends if you want to penalise a bad defensive line or running a bad line.

Seems to me with the line Martin ran, it became impossible for Cogger to get across. At that point it really has to be a penalty. Cogger’s actions are irrelevant cos he can’t get there anyway.

At the end of the day, if your side concedes 44 points, you have no arguments as far as referring goes. Knights are more to blame than Wyatt.

refs always make mistakes to favour the favourites. Gets old.

Fair enough point of view. Even with an overlap the defence should be given the ability to apply pressure and reduce the options available to the attacking team without being obstructed.

I mean, not every overlap ends in a try. There's no guarantee the passes won't be put down or they'll over run it.

can't blow it as soon as he's offside because what if the Knighst winger picks it up and Xav retreats the 10m and then makes the tackle- that's a normal kick chase right?

I understand the logic,

If a kickchase is offside and comes within 10m, then penalty is for coming within 10m and applied there, not the original offside position.

I can live with it. But if a kicker is hit late the penalty is where the ball lands. So just one of those that inconsistent nrl rules.

We were never winning that game anyway with so many key outs, but jeez some of horrible calls came at really crucial times in the game. The officials really smile down on sides when they’re doing well.
