Round 1 Friday March 7 - Dolphins v Rabbitohs at Suncorp Stadium (Nine/Fox) - 8.00pm AEDT, 7.00pm local

About bloody time! Ladies and gentleman, the new NRL season has finally arrived!

Stat Attack

  • The Dolphins have won four of their past six games at Suncorp Stadium.
  • The Rabbitohs lost both games at Suncorp Stadium in 2024.
  • Dolphins centre Herbie Farnworth will make his 100th NRL appearance.
  • Rabbitohs five-eighth Cody Walker requires one try for 100 NRL tries.
  • Dolphins fullback Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow has scored 10 tries in his past 11 NRL games.

Cyclone could cause havoc for this game. Hopefully it doesn’t get cancelled
Could be a little wet and windy. That could actually be a leveller between the sides and nullify the Dolphins speed assets out wide. Possession, field position, kicking games are what win games in the wet.

Our kicking game is still somewhat unknown given Humphreys being so new to first grade. The kid can kick but not sure how good his long kicking game in particular is. Cody's long kicking game is ordinary but Wighton has a big boot on him if he positions himself to take a few. Interestingly, all 3 are left footers. No Latrell means no monster bombs (another left footer). Could be pivotal since we know Katoa has an excellent kicking game.

The round 17 return match will obviously have to be played up there now you would think.

* This has now been confirmed. Round 17 will be a Dolphins home game.

Didn't realise all 4 are left footers. I am too but just like Larry Bird I write with my left hand, kick with my left foot but play baseball and basketball right handed. It's called cross dominance and it's pretty rare.

Mamo can do a bit of kicking from dh and he is a righty. He almost nabbed a 40-20 in the Charity Shield so not too shabby. But hopefully it will be dry in Sydney with the venue change. ;)
