No nrl team

Once they have one subscribers will probably double

Could even get Telstra more involved with the nrl in Australia too all thanks to a png nrl team

PNG tv deal just gives the nrl an additional bonus revenue plus content for Aussie tv too

I would think a tv deal of 50 million pa down the track should be easily achievable once the team is bedded down

And you know all those mobile subscribers can / will access rugby league via their phones

You know like we do in Australia ?
lol so a country where RL is apparently their religion isnt watching NRL because they dont have a club of their own? Yeh sure.

" I would think", well sounds legit lock it in lol

Those mobile phone users are getting NRL for free as a perk, like we used to. Hence why Digicell currently pays diddly squat for rights.

Considering the GDP per capita in PNG is about US $2,700 per annum I don't know if there would be much scope to expect a surge in subscription TV services in PNG from its populace.

Come on now, with the disposable income of the avg PNG person they'll be falling over themselves to pay $30 a month for PTV in huge numbers when they get a club. Wb says so.

So PNG, which is widely (and rightfully) considered the most NRL mad nation on the planet, where the game is taken so seriously that they literally kill people over the outcome of a match, can only be motivated to sign up if there is a local team???

Yeh and once they have an established team of their own they will be turning those subscribers into more revenues

I posted on the png thread how the main driver of digicel pacific is png and how it sold for 1.6 billion usd

Digicel’s investment in PNG has been generating significant returns: in the year to March 2019, PNG operations brought in revenue of more than US$340 million and made a contribution to group earnings (EBITDA) of $160.5 million. PNG’s contribution was worth 16.7% of total EBITDA and was the largest from a single market within the group. Revenue and profitability increased even as the company lost a half million mobile subscribers, which it says was the result of government policies requiring the registration of SIM cards.

The PNG operations have been making an increased contribution to Digicel’s profits, offsetting losses elsewhere in the group’s operations. More than 14% of the Digicel group’s revenue is counted in PNG kina. It’s regularly the largest or second-largest foreign currency in which the company deals.

Debt threatens Digicel’s Pacific dominance
The sprawling telecoms provider is deep in the red, and it might be the company’s PNG profits that help bail it out.

Wow 340 million usd all from png. Imagine how much that is In local currency that’s massive!!!!!

I get economics isn’t a big thing in that bogan place you live

But they made 340 usd from png

That could buy half of Townsville
They didn't make, you imbecile.

Earnings before interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortisation was $160M, by your own source.

Learn to read, shit for brains

How much of this was TV, 2/3rds of f**k all, it would be mainly telephony. Which means nothing to the NRL.

Unless you think Telstra EBIT of $8.2B in 2024, means the NRL will suddenly get a multi billion dollar TV deal.

They make more revenue each year out of png than north QLD could afford for a stadium lol

You said the png market would produce minimal income

It will.

Your grasp of economics is as f**ked as your meth addled brain.

PNG is bottom three or four poorest country in the world, you seem to really struggle with that concept.

$160M is an average of $16 per person in PNG, per annum!
