What deal did NRL get rid of Foxtel's first and last rights clause?

It didn't happen BUT if Foxtel offered $1 and no one offered anything. Then that is the tv deal, So it is hard to say NRL undervalued the rights when market factors were in play.

Foxtel beats it and gets the rights.

So therefore IF another network was offering huge numbers Fox either matches or NRL takes it

So Fox paid market price at the time, which was where it was due to RL's issues

Kinda shocked how high those ratings are tbh. As you said the game was well and truly over by half time and I know heaps of people who just stopped watching (and it’s not like panthers are a massive rating team either). Those are phenomenal ratings for a match that doesn’t seem like that big of a draw on the surface.
