What is the logic behind fox not releasing paytv tv results? Is it because we are heading into negotiations or just some other weird idea?

they disagreed with how Oztam were measuring them, said they were out by around 40% and smaller broadcasts werent reflected in the ratings

What benefits do they get in releasing them?

It's the Scott Morrison effect, if you control the data than you can make it whatever you want.

Sure but it was publicly available, there just trying to ensure advertisers don’t cotton on to the reduction in subscriptions. Further decline will occur if they lose the NRL

I do wonder if the slight dip in FTA ratings for the AFL is a symptom of taking their content behind a paywall. If you have to pay to watch certain games you’re more likely to use that service to watch all the games IMO. We might be seeing the AFL ratings make a similar transition to what the NRL has.
These sort of comparisons are borderline worthless IMO. The different teams involved make the ratings damn near impossible to compare. I’m happy to see them posted for a bit of fun and I always like data but they don’t really tell us anything.

Lucky channel seven didn’t pay so much for the afl which doesn’t even include origin on top
Total ratings like this are probably a better thing to look at. As above I do wonder if the AFL audience had transitioned to fox/kayo more this year. Whatever is happening NRL ratings are really strong right now and combined expansion on the table the NRL is in a strong position to negotiate its next tv deal.

Some of it is because viewers have switched to kayo

The issue seems to be none of the afl media or pro afl accounts are pointing out the fall in fta ratings

The nrl club competition on its own is getting average ratings on par with afl when it’s five states v two

On top of that we have origin and other rep games

Channel seven bought a huge dud

Given seasons started at different times also, but yes it is hard to see the full picture without Kayo's numbers
