Vlad on Perth: AFL are upset as we are coming to eat at the table, and we eat an awful lot.
Kind of a veiled threat no?
No nrl admin would ever say league is taking over in vic sa or wa

And none of our fans would be stupid enough to believe it

Afl admin is full of hubris and their fans accept whatever bs they are fed

It’s literally like the borg

One dumb collective

I'm sure the AFL has the figures mate and I'm sure they'd make them known if they were amazing. But judging by recent ratings figures, N/A might be merciful

theres been a handful of times in the last 15 years I can recall the AFL releasing city ratings outside of finals or special events. And almost never since VOZ

NRL hasnt released viewer numbers all year, and generally doesnt until annual report time. I assume we can think the same just because the NRL havent bothered either.
NRL is the highest rating sport in Australia.

AFL invests billions into QLD and NSW for zero viewers and is somehow 'taking over'. They have failed. Swans and Lions crowds are down, ratings are pathetic, Suns and GWS have really hurt not only themselves but the small foothold the Swans and Lions had.

Its a good thing ratings are national, and average ratings arent the be all and end all then, no matter how much this forum seems to want them to be

Id say if NRL in Perth and Adelaide had the crowds and ratings that AFL in Sydney and Brisbane get we would consider it a success wouldn't you?

Let me guess, reach is the way to go?

Reach isnt the answer either - the viewership window is too narrow (although its the same one used to determine streaming ratings, so go figure). the answer used to be found in the quarter hour breakdowns that we used to get pre VOZ that enabled us to more accurately show the peak average audience before the drop off period.

Averages used to be determined by an average of the quarter hour breakdown data. Im fairly sure Ive linked the raw data format before. Ill see if I can find that data again, but sadly its not on this laptop.

However - averages arent that bad either, as long as we remember how average audiences are determined - Average Audience being determined by total viewers (over a given period)/time. - if I have the same average audience over a longer period of time, then more people will have watched in total.

the standard remains averages - which puts me at odds with various bigfooty members - and thats what Ill keep putting out until a better solution comes along. All Im saying is that the average audience of live matches isnt the only consideration when it comes to rights.

Ratings in Sydney and Brisbane are tanking hard. Are you serious? So you think 30-50k viewers in Brisbane and Sydney after 40 years and Billions of dollars (two of the three biggest population centres in Australia) is a success when we haven't even started to make an effort in Adelaide and Perth yet and are the two smallest mainland state capitals and we pull 10k.

Yeah I think the NRL is doing alright in that comparison

50k is being very generous

Afl is only sport in nsw or qld where the crowds regularly exceed the tv ratings
