I bet the AFL’s looking at these numbers and going WTF have we done wrong? I'll tell you what you've done wrong, you've tried to tap into the Sydney - Brisbane market and you've failed miserably
They really screwed up by not giving the licence to Southport Sharks, who are a real QLD club with a proud history. Instead the Suns were created with the purpose of serving Victorian business interests, and they wonder why the people of QLD haven't embraced the Suns. The majority of Suns fans are Victorian ex pats who flocked to the Gold Coast.

Great ratings for the storm in Melbourne. I know I bang on about this but Melbourne viewers have been trained to watch on paytv over the years so pretty confident the numbers would be good on fox/kayo as well though we’ll never know.

51k in Melbourne watching Storm
28k in Brisbane and Sydney combined watching AFL

Granted, no Brisbane or Sydney teams were playing in the AFL, but that's dire for them. AFL taking over, means taking over, not 28k combined in the county's first and third largest cities.

If the Lions and / or Swans are playing they're probably struggling to beat that Storm number anyway after 40 years and Billions of dollars.

Friday Night #NRL has an aggregated audience on Nine of 12.211m for the season at an average of 581,000. This is up 1.75% YoY. Head to head this season the NRL trails the AFL 4-15 on Friday Nights , but this was the first NRL Friday night win since May 9th.

Friday Night #AFL was the lowest rating Friday night of the year (either AFL or NRL), despite hosting two matches including the Sydney derby (on NSW tv only). Friday AFL has an aggregated audience of 12.451m on Seven, at an average of 622k per broadcast. This is down 5.03% YoY

But but but the nrl did it ten years ago

Afl love aggregating stuff together to give a bs picture (eg Telstra contra and tv deal) so I’m not shocked

And you like ignoring or excluding things that dont fit your worldview too. Its bs - to folks here, but it obviously works at the corporate level so here we are.
