So ill give you the breakdown how reach works now.
If you love flicking stations to check scores. Which i don't but but but.

So that means you could be clicking back and fourth 50 times, and that makes out you've watched the program 50 times in one night and that's how reach is determined. So guys let's start clicking away back n fourth lol and then our reach will be higher 😆

Thats not how reach works.

Its unique viewers who watch for at least one minute. If you click back and forth, you are still one viewer.

Free to air networks a few years ago

I remember a certain someone was really trying hard to post those figures and he just got rubbished so much he went back to just ratings

Reach has been around since the ratings system changed in 2002, its part of the whole measurement process. Its not a new thing - and its the standard when measuring streaming viewership.

For some reason VOZ and Seven decided to push it hard in recent years though.

Friday AFL game(s) had 1.949m Reach and 453k Average.

Reach/Average on FTA TV is akin to Views/Likes on social media.

Seven and AFL must believe advantage accrues from publicizing poor ratios.

Any publicity is good publicity?
You can call it what you like. As has been said here countless times, whatever we think of ‘reach’ advertisers and tv companies take it seriously. Whinging about it is pointless.

Stop making sense. It’s pointless when you are dealing with nuffies.

Great ratings for the storm in Melbourne. I know I bang on about this but Melbourne viewers have been trained to watch on paytv over the years so pretty confident the numbers would be good on fox/kayo as well though we’ll never know.
Yep ex-pats like me watch all our games on Kayo/Fox.

I only watch 9 when I have no option (Origin or GF).

Melbourne AFL fans haven't had as much reason to have Pay though, until this year. So in my opinion, that's a lot of "casual" AFL fans watching (which is great)

On another note, whilst I'm engaging in sinking the boot into other codes, my second favorite past time after RL 😂😂 You'd think the AFL execs would have woken up by now watching big events be played throughout the country, which gives their opposition a bit more media attention than a standard club game, and started developing a few of their own. If any sport could justify a State based rep tournament it's them (they've got nothing else).

Yet they do nothing and watch on whilst Origin, Lions, Bledisloe, Socceroos, Matildas, NFL, Wrexham and other touring soccer teams fill stadiums and grab media attention.

How does reach work ? Do you only have to watch 1 seceond to get counted ?

And how long do you need to watch for to be counted as part of the average ? It used to be 15 minutes ?
