Tigers new CEO was on SEN this week talking about commbank v Accor.

He said they make more money at Commbank vs Accor even with 50k+ crowds. The corporates love Commbank and that's where the money is for gameday revenue.

That makes sense as Commbank is new and modern and Accor already looks dated.

If I was paying that much money I'd choose Commbank as well.

Growth has been phenomenal - the 2025 crowd aggregate was up 40% on 2019.

2026 is shaping as another record year, and 2027 could be even better again, especially if Penrith opens its new stadium early in the season and South Sydney gets good traction back at Moore Park.

I agree. Attendance growth has been amazing.
This thread proves it.
People are regularly discussing whether 30 - 40 thousand is a failure in Sydney. On a regular basis.

Unfortunately, the only thing that I see holding back further growth is the greed of certain clubs and their pricing strategies for tickets.
Also, the smaller capacity grounds such as Brookvale, Kogarah, Leichhardt, Campbelltown and unfortunately, that little local park ground in the Shire.

I think low capacity grounds is a far greater issue than pricing.Pricing can be adjusted.
There`s no a lot than can be done about small grounds. How many fans a week are Manly locking out, could be over 8k, Sharks 8k.

It's a bit of both.
At some of the larger capacity grounds, the prices are outrageous.
Supply and demand. I get it.
But RL is the working man's family game.
Charging $100 per seat for a couple of adults is just plain pure greed.

I`m not disputing that mate, and maybe at some point they`ll learn, but not a lot can be done about the small capacity grounds.

Kogarah doesn't look as bad as I thought it would (but haven't got a read yet on the grandstand).

Weather clearing may have helped.

*EDIT* - Northern grandstand looks a bit sparse, but the western grandstand looks decent. We might sneak 10k.

Sneaking 10 k is understandable, however appalling.

It is very sad to see. But to be honest, the days of the Dragons being a big Sydney club are gone. They have been too bad for too long and demographics have not been their friend.

With the new COE in Wollongong, they should just base themselves there permanently and put all their effort into upgrading and packing out WIN.

Have 1 event game at the SFS each year (Anzac Day or another on off years), and maybe use Kogarah for trial games or WNRL. Even trials are wasted at Kogarah (I'd rather them be in rural or expansion areas). Pity as the Stadium itself isn't bad.

From a quick look through, the longest a season has run before the first sub 10k crowd was 2010 when it happened in round 6 game 4.
2026 is the second longest, round 5 either game 1 or game 4.

i'd imagine the need this revenue because Leichardt and Campbelltown they would be almost making a loss for those games
