Whose crowing? They won both games played! Who cares how you win!

Both teams were shit? Seriously? Did you watch the game? It was the best game so far by a country mile this season with 2 high quality teams, the weather was atrocious! Don't be a 50-40 person for a good game, those people are moronic!
Wow... that's a take.

It was a poor quality game in my eyes. Both sets of halves couldn't capitalise on possession. Pedestrian attack.

still better than a one sided blowout...

we missing Fogarty, both his kicking game and organisation. Not an attack on the halves, they will just take time to settle into a rhythm. We're trying to use Hudson too much close to the line, reminds me of the "pass to Wighton" game plan from a few years back.

I felt that hand was overplayed.

Its great to have an attacking backrower but taking a page out of Thurston's book, its the setup.

Remember how effective it was when he hit Gavin Cooper for 60 minutes, conditioned the defence and the moment the defenders turned their hips inside for Cooper, he went out the back or threw the dummy and set up on the inside.

I feel like edge back rowers have lost touch with the art of the decoy runner.

AFL is lame AF but Manuka Oval tbh is just as shit.

Our sports grounds all need a massive revamp and no matter which pack of fart sniffing former APS merkins are in government I can't see where the money or support comes from, when the Green vote is so powerful.
IDGAF if Manuka is shite, it's literally approved as a Test venue for cricket.

Merkin can redevelop the stadium with triple the sports playing at it and the ones with ACTUAL Canberra teams playing from it.

It was a good win, same as last year. Two good teams swapping some dominance and damn hard to get over the line. Well done. But f**k I hate your fans in sydney...

Yeah, you won't hear me disagree with some of them in Sydney also!

Your fans are not a picnic kind of crew also in Canberra! The booing every single tackle is so annoying, the club is full of whingers from the fans to the players, coach and Don Furner!

It's approved, but it's barely used and tbh Bruce is approved/used for international sports too.

I agree the rectangular stadium needs redevelopment (tbh I think it needs relocating) but also the only relevant team playing out of it is the Raiders. I consistently forget the Brumbies even exist.

I ain't defending the government. I guess what I'm saying is years of neglect now mean it's unlikely there's much light at the end of a tunnel for any Canberra stadiums even if limp wrist Barr is ousted or moves on. The height of Super Rugby popularity is long gone, and that flurry of international cricket at Manuka has largely ended too. I actually think part of the reason A-League and BBL team bids struggle is because the facilities suck, but even as mickey mouse comps both of those would inject more interest and more of a reason to redevelop the grounds. Bit of a rock and a hard place.

Bruce should have been redeveloped at least a decade ago IMO. Manuka in the time between.

Raiders could not buy a call from that pooch schlong sucker with the whistle
we copped plenty in the first half , because they had the ball

we had long periods with the ball in the 2nd half , they behaved just like we did in the ruck..
no 6 agains ?
As a neutral watching that game, I agree 100%. It’s easy to see who the NRL wants in the big one.

If I was coaching the Raiders a right defensive edge of Galvin/Tuala/Montoya has my undivided attention. But some tinkering
needs to be done to the Raiders attack to cash in.

Yes Sanders is learning his craft and yes Strange has been moved to the right as apparently they played like that through the grades but it’s not working. Strange is one of the most dangerous ball runners in the comp on the left side of the field. As mentioned in the Raiders v Warriors thread last week moving Strange to the left gives the Raiders 5 options in attack when going left. Sanders giving it to 1 HY running against the grain 2 to Stange running against the grain 3 out the back to Kris 4 rolling the ball in goal for any number of chasers and 5 show and go .

Strange on the right has looked like a champion horse used to running clockwise in NSW but now is running off the wrong leg anticlockwise in Victoria. Gus would appreciate the horse racing analogy.

The Raiders left side attack hasn’t fired a shot in 2 matches. It’s been just shovel it to Hudson Young and…well that’s about all really. Strange running into the channels between Galvin and Tuala and Tuala and Montoya should reap dividends. Bring Laurie on 15 minutes before half time and for 15 minutes after half time and he will light things up for the Raiders.

Which brings me to the Bulldogs. The best right centre in the game has been moved to the left. Kiraz has a great right foot step suited for the right wing but has been moved to the left. Montoya was combining well with Kikau as a kick chase combo but Montoya gets moved to the right. . It mightn’t sound much moving from 1 side to the other but some players find it harder to adjust. Ask David Fifita.

If Strange plays on the left side and Daine Laurie gets more than a cameo it’s the Raiders by 12.

If he plays on the right it’s the Bulldogs by 10.

At the end of the day tactics win matches. And sometimes you can’t see the forest for the trees.
So Strange moves to the left in attack with 5 minu

So Strange finally moves to the left in attack with a whole 5 minutes left and the game virtually out of reach and he immediately sets up a try with a run and late offload. Seriously. It was hard watching this tactical failure.

On the Bulldogs credit to AOB for bringing a well known move from the old Storm playbook from when he was assistant at the Storm years ago. Burton as a decoy to the left , Hayward darting to the right from dummy half followed by an inside ball to Tracey. Galvin didn’t have to pace to finish it but Preston scored next set. Nice to watch a well rehearsed move get a result in a game situation.
