Sucks losing players to a team that doesn't exist yet. Would love someone for Sorro today

Sorro comes to the club we win four straight GF.

Gets injured in the prelim and the streak ends.

Highly valuable player if only because he kept Huth or Mav out of GF squads.

Sorro has given good service. On and off the field.
He was part of something special. He has had a great back end of his career when it looked like his career might end prematurely.
Good luck to him. Let’s send him out with another premiership!

I assume local juniors means guys like Edwards, Yeo, Martin etc. don’t count? Being from country areas and not Penrith locals?

Because 12 for us out of 30 seems insanely low even.

Yeah, its a ludicrous distinction. Coaching after 16 years of age would have to the most important part of a players development, but if you come from Dubbo at 16 that is not considered junior development. Its complete nonsense. From Dubbo, or, Cambridge Park, it requires investment, expertise, patience and care to coach a player to first grade. The club has to provide opportunities to young players, juniors from anywhere in Australia, if the NRL is to have enough quality first graders to maintain a world class competition.

When you consider Greater Sydney has 9 NRL Teams and South East Queensland only has 3 teams (Broncos, Titans and Dolphins), it’s pathetic they could only have 8 juniors amongst them playing in the NRL. Did we really need to bring in the dolphins?

Yeah but if we get to generous with our definitions the roosters will be near the top of this list which doesnt make sense. I think just keep in mind just because they arent developing locals it doesnt mean a club is not still developing players well.

But why is that wrong? The Roosters have nowhere near the local players to build postcode juniors. They have to get them from elsewhere and put the same effort in that the Panthers do for a giftwrapped Cambridge Park local.

If other clubs that are struggling put the same effort and expertise into development as the Roosters, they might be just as succesful.

Postcode juniors mean nothing. How do Melbourne get enough locals with a single league in Melbourne. What do Perth do?

The more clubs that put effort into development the better for the NRL. Postcodes don't matter, effort and investment does. If you can instil some of your club's DNA into a young player during their development, they will give you just as much as a postcode junior.

JFH couldn't be more Penrith if he drove a Torana, wore a flannelete shirt and thongs and drank at the Pioneer Tavern. Dyl and Yeo the same. Penrith DNA right there.
