Will it be possible for Dragons (or souths or anyone else for that matter) to get 20k members next year?

Do you mean ticketed or all together ? Souths got 18000 this year and i doubt they will improve on that..they will go backwards due to no on field success. Dragons should fly through the roof.

Souths and Dragons should both be aiming for 20k. Dogs and Parra should be aiming for 15k but after poor seasons will be fortunate to hang on to all the bandwagoners that signed up after 2009.

Legit question - Can the Dragons sell 20k season tickets even though their stadium capacities are less than 20k?

Probably, when you factor in there are 12 game, 6 game (for each ground), and 3 game membership packages. That'd be about the limit, depending on the breakdown of the different categories.

I myself will be going for a non-ticketed membership next year.

Well a lot of those tickets would be 6 game memberships to 1 ground. They wouldn't be able to sell 20k 12 game season tickets.

Sadly the the capacity means that the only advantage they can claim is by using the demand to hike up the prices. Good for the club, bad for fans.

Could they spin it so that they end up being like the NFL or AFL teams with their massive waiting lists for season tickets?

Bulldogs should be alright considering they recruited well and most of their fans are really excited about 2011. On the other hand , we don't have much to look forward to, not that it would stop me from signing up but I can imagine a lot of bandwagoners won't renew.

To be honest I don't see any team reaching 20,000 ticketed members next season or any season soon.

why? We know the fans are out there. We know clubs are continuing to push memberships and improve their marketing. Do you believe Rl fans are less committed to their teams than AFL fans?

Broncos will get to the 20k in a couple of years. If the Brisbane Lions can have 29000+ in 2010 i don't see why the Broncos can't reach 20k soon.

something's gonna have to give at some stage tho. you'd think in the next 10 years, they'll sell more per game access ticketed memberships than the capacity of either ground they currently use.

they could end up putting a cap on their season tickets with waiting lists to get one. like so many NFL clubs have with waiting lists going into the decades - Green Bay Packers have 40 year waiting list, New England Patriots have a 60 year waiting list. or they can provide a larger capacity stadium to accommodate members.
