The longer it gets delayed then Ipswich becomes more likely (2032 Olympics halo)

But once the arl see the new stadium it will be Christchurch

Can’t see Ipswich being too far behind them either

It will be delayed if Perth and png are absolute basketcases

Player depth is the key and for that png Brisbane and nz will be the key to those extra player numbers

There's not really much point in a BRL / QRL club helping Adelaide. The whole point of the Bears was to get the brand back in the NRL.

The goal of QRL clubs is to get back to first grade status by getting promoted to the NRL. For the wealthier QRL clubs, Easts, Wynnum, Burleigh it's not really worth packing up their empires and moving them to Adelaide, nor is it a win if their mascot or jersey is all that makes it to the NRL in a completely different city, not owned at all by them (as the Perth Bears are setup). In the case of Burleigh Bears and Easts Tigers, their mascots are already in the NRL.

NRL are best to go into Adelaide when the time comes, revive the Rams brand or just setup a whole new brand.

Burleigh are stuffed if they have NRL ambition. Their mascot is already in the NRL and over 100 years of history and their location is small part of a territory that is covered by another NRL club.

Can you explain why you think the Olympics would be of any consequence to a new team being admitted to the NRL?

Yep, common marking of the year is the Olympics. But you're right the more relevant event that year as far as RL is concerned is the end of the next broadcast cycle presuming we do a 5 year deal.

we obviously need a second NZ team that’s my choice, but a 3rd Brisbane team is needed also. Would there be any possibility of a relocation of a Brisbane QRL team to PNG team like a merge?

I've excepted lots of moves that the NRL has made that I don't agree with but if a second NZ team is looked over for team 20 - I'M OUT.
Criminal how NZ Rugby league has been treated and I won't be supporting a code that’s capable of such neglect.

So for me it has to be NZ 2. The question is when? 2032 seems like the earliest and that’s purely due to the inclusion of PNG . Perth shouldn't be a problem but if PNG is the nightmare I think it will be, the conversation will be more around a reduction to 18 and it could be 20 years before we're back to talking about team 20.

PNG is a massive mistake. The cost in consequences that this team will have will far exceed 600 million. My hope is either, it's a miracle and it works.. probably 5% chance. There's a clause that allows the NRL to abandon the concept 30% but 65% chance that it's an ongoing drag on the competition for 10 years +
Goodbye

The other factor playing into brisbane3 hands is the nrl seem hell bent on any new club ending up a members owned club. For perth and png that has been possible as govt’s have agreed to fund big chunk of the start up costs. Unless the nz govt agrees to do same I can’t see nrl willing to splash start up cash for an eventual members club.

Do you think that's an NRL initiative or is it because both clubs are closely working with state/federal governments and have been instructed to aim for best practice?

BNE3 won't have a relationship like that with the QLD government, especially if the bid team is basically Singleton stumping up millions to see Newtown's jersey in the NRL.

The Perth private bid was working very closely with cook, it was in effect a joint bid. Nrl intiative totally to have both perth and PNG as nrl owned moving to membership owned. Arguably as little risk for nrl given govt’s are fitting the bill.
what that means for a prospective nz club. Is anyone’s guess. Maybe they’d want a si liar set up pr maybe they’d be happy to pivot again and have private investors own it.

Perth private bid had unnamed backers and it turned out that they didn't have names because they didn't exist.
