I agree with the conspiracy theorists that there will definitely be some pre-determined approach that it will be best for the game if Souths win next week. I completely understand why. I'm not saying that things will be done to intentiionally screw us over and I'm not using this as to an excuse if we do end up losing, but we're going to have to be exceptional to overcome all of the odds if we're to win this one. If we're not at our best we will get done, simple as that.

As much as everyone would enjoy the lols if Souffs lose, they deserve to be in a prelim more that the Raiders.

Any team that gets thumped 40 zip at home in the rain doesnt deserve to be playing finals. More proof we need a top 5.

Firstly, I'm not disputing the fact that Souths have been more consistent this season. No dispute whatsoever.

I do disagree though that we don't deserve to be here.

No matter what happens, whether we lose this week or make it to the GF (highly unlikely), everyone is going to think of this run as a fluke like the Tigers of '05 or the Eels of '09.

The simple fact is that we have a very young roster and especially young halves who are now learning to take control of a team without our best player in Campese. Things have finally started to click in terms of our execution but also our attitude. If we had just fluked 5 games in a row, I would have agreed with you. But look at the way we have put some teams to the sword this year, specifically Melbourne and the Bulldogs. Then against the Warriors and Sharks, we were in positions where in years gone by, we would have given up and lost both games. But we have mentally turned the corner and this young team is now responding to what Furner is preaching.

Again, not disputing that Souths deserve to be there. I just disagree that we don't deserve to be there because if you look at our season as a whole, we are a much better footy team than we were at the midpoint of the year, and it's not because of luck, it's because of experience, attitude and execution.

Well, since we won the whole thing in 1994 you're a bit wrong there.

We also won our first two and bombed out in the GF qualifier in 97.

I thought you lost to Canterbury in the semi final and beat Norths in the premlimanary if that's the case then it would trace back to 1991 unless you include Super League in 1997 of course.

Losing Campese was a fair hiccup though. We actually didn't start the season too badly.

Yes we lost to the Bulldogs the first time (awesome semi-final, even though we lost).

Yeah I more or less meant that was the last time Canberra won a finals in week 2 if you will.

My understanding is:
Week 1 - Qualyfying final
Week 2 - Semi Final
Week 3 - Premlimanary final
Week 4 - Grand Final

But I can understand where your comming from anyways will be going for the Raiders all the way this weekend.

Bottom line is that we got pumped by Melbourne.

As good as they are and at home, it wasn't even close.

The Raiders will be tough after their win, no doubt about it.

At least it is at ANZ which is in our favour.
