Seems a lot of people in here have forgotten how long a season is. I sit here and read the crap week after week after week. Smith is shit, why did we sign him, why doesn't he get a run.
I've endured the past two seasons just like every other person on this board has and yes I have bagged Smith for past mistakes. However bagging him before a ball is kicked off - I know a lot of fans on this site are fickle but this is bloody ridiculous. Even Souths fans have a healthier outlook on the season ahead then half of you.
There are 26 rounds and 24 games of football ahead of us. What happens on Saturday will have next to f**k all to do with how our season ends. We all want to see players in the squad and I am puzzled as to why the selections that have been made have been. I am actually willing to give the team a chance to show what they are capable of. Our first six rounds in 2001 we only won 3 out of six. The club is notorious for slow starts.
The Roosters did stuff all in the start of 2002.
The Panthers did stuff all in the start of 2003.
If the Eels walk away competitive and with a 50% record from our first 6 matches then I am more than happy especially if our back end of the season goes anything like last year.
You can bag Smith all you want but get behind the players he does select and stop bitching about who you want. Some support for these blokes could take us a hell of a lot further.
