Why is it every "expert" forgets to mention Hashim Amla when mentioning the best ODI bats in the world.

He avgs 54 with 20 tons in 108 innings at a S/R over 90! Arguably the best odi opener of all-time.

But no, Warney and Robert Craddock would prefer Dave Warner who averages a sterling 34.

Saw old mate Watson in the Australian rooms after the game. Looked like he was going to cry.

but its a good 34 and his technique is not as ugly as Amla's

Brilliant player, definitely right up there in terms of stats.
(I wouldn't take much notice of what Warne does or doesn't say)

Though interestingly in 17 ODIs v Australia
Averages 33.12 S/R 74.64
We somehow seem to contain him pretty compared to his overall stats

Warner has only come good in one dayers last 18 months or so. Was dropped a couple of times in his first 15 or so ODIs
His average at one point was mid 20s. Now its 35.20 and growing

 yeah, sorry but Warner isn't even in the discussion for ODIs (as distinct from tests)

Almost certainly Amla and Dilshan, McCullum would be next... if I could have any top 6 for ODIs, it's something like

Amla
Dilshan
Sangakarra
Kohli
de Villiers
McCullum

Gotta think Australia win by more if Watto plays, he'd have scored a blistering 150 I reckon

The commentary took a massive dip yesterday with Warne and D. Fleming running most of the show.
Went straight back to last summers #9 standards

Would be interesting to see Warner's average over the past year to 18 months. He'll get it up into the 40's before too long-the sign of a class ODI player.

As for Amla, such a calm, classy batsman, makes it look so easy.

Stats could never lie, so let's just compare players based on their career stats

nothing else matters, lol

Nobody is doing that - are you suggesting that test form, a 100 against the Afghans and Warne's opinion makes Warner the world's premier ODI opener?

Kiwi's are even worse than Aussies in overhyping sportsman,my goodness.

Warner averages 44 in his past 20 ODI innings
Mcullum averages 32 in his past 20 ODI innings(only slightly better than his career 30 average)

Warner has 2 ODI centuries in his past 6 innings
Mcullum has 1 ODI century in the past 3 years

People mistaking a few recent entertaining innings by Mcullum for thinking he's a great batsmen(has always been an average batsmen in both forms of the game)

A couple of 6's on tiny NZ grounds and Mcullum is all of a sudden a legend,Kiwi's are more embarrassing than James Brayshaw going on about The Big Show.

While I'm sure a big chunk of this is a troll, the batting averages are a bit of a red herring sometimes in ODI cricket. Gilly only averaged 36, Jayawardene 34, Jayasuriya 32... all fine batsmen.

McCullum spent a huge part of his career too early in the team and thrown up and down the order. He's only really got his batting role clear in the last couple of years, and he walks into any side based on current form and impact.

I rate Warner as dangerous on his day, but Channel 9 go way way overboard with him.

#Gilly scored way more tons than Mcullum in ODI's and won way more games for his country
# Jayasuriya and Jayawardene both played 445 ODI's(Mcullum would average less than 25 if he played that many)
# Mcullum has 3 fifty's in his past 10 ODI innings, nothing special at all(his current form is so overrated) and would not walk straight into any team

Mcullum is the epitome of average, less ODI Centuries than both Finch and Watson and a way worse average than both, both of the Aussie's mentioned are complete donkey's also.

More embarrassing than Shane Warne and James Brayshaw combined these Kiwi's.
