Bangladesh was never losing that game. Scotland bowled more pies than in a bakery. Thankfully the rubbish teams play during the week while we are at work:lol:

Thanks for the quality insights turnip

What the clueless naysayers (& locky) don't realize is that the associates have progressed vastly over time.

Scotland 99/07, Netherlands and UAE 96 etc. were much much worse, at least this lot have the basic skills and are making the big teams work. Yes the big teams are still winning comfortably but the level of intensity is better than what it used to be. Those who have watched the games in full would see this.

If they got more game time and backing during the other 4 years Ireland would actually start surpassing Zimbabwe and Bangladesh and competing with the likes of the West Indies and England regularly. Afghanistan are where Sri Lanka was in 1992, lots of rough diamonds that need smoothing out.

But that's the crux of the matter right there, the governing body doesn't really give a crap about expansion.
It's a short-sighted money grab for them, they don't realize that expanding the game will pay off in the long run.

The 10 team World Cup will be expanded after an extended outcry, I'm sure of it.
But again it's everything in between that needs to be fixed more than that.

it would be wrong to cut down the number of teams in the world cup. Teams like Afghanistan and Scotland can trouble good teams.

they have the talent to be a class team but consistency and mental approach will always hold them back.

Bangladesh lack the fast bowling to be competitive overseas in the longer forms of the game, they seem to be getting better in ODI cricket though.

The associates have been fairly competitive, they may've lost but putting up 300+ is pretty impressive from the Scots. Their bowling is pretty poor though, but it won't improve if all they ever do is play the occasional tournament amongst themselves. Expecting these sides to be competitive in some of the only games against full members is just wrong. They need more regular games against full member sides to keep improving, seeing where the yardstick is.

But as mentioned there has been definite improvement.
