With Friend out for the first month and no apparent second hooker should the Roosters make a play for Matt Srama who is not in the Gold Coast plans for 2015 - has 1 year(2015) to go on his contract.

I'm torn between Maya Blue and Lauren as my favourite high class hooker - but they might stretch the salary cap

I reckon we should just hang out at the Cannes Film Festival
Hookers flock to that event like flies to shit - we're bound to pick up a few good ones there

I agree that he is a quality player but what about the Roosters partnership with the Wyong Roos. For the last two seasons Wyong Roos and NSW Cup NSW representative hooker and captain Mitch Williams has surely has to be labelled the most talented hooker not to have played in the NRL. Through Jake Friends injury I thought this would be Mitch Williams' chance but now the Roosters have signed Matt Srama. Honestly if the struggling Titans have said that they don't want him why would the Roosters pick him up when they have a player of Williams' ability on standby ?. Its a kick in Williams' guts if you ask me.

It's a no brainer, Srama has played around 60 first grade games to Williams zero. Likely to be a good reason for that. Srama had a falling out with Neil Henry, hence leaving the Gold Coast. His departure was unrelated to onfield performances. The partnership with Wyong does not mean the Roosters have to source their first grade squad from the Roos. If Williams is good enough, he will get his chance but we needed a backup who has proven NRL experience given Friend could miss the first 10 weeks of next season.

This is why the Roosters have a terrible reputation for just buying anybody instead of having faith in who they already have. Williams is a gun while a shit club like the Titans don't even want Srama bad recruiting if you ask me.

Considering Srama is a known quanitity at NRL level and Williams is not, that is a poor proposition. Due to the nature of his injury, there would be no one to show Williams the ropes at NRL level as Friend's injury would prevent him from being on the training paddock with Williams. Further I've seen plenty of "gun" players in the lower grades who either never cut the mustard at NRL level (hello Joe Williams), or are rushed in too early and it adversely effects their development.

The Roosters will have a relative rookie playing fullback in 2015 at NRL level, they don't need a rookie hooker on top of that.

This is why the Roosters have a bad reputation for buying anyone and everyone.

Anyone and everyone? Didn't realise Matt Srama was an entire team.

Further the partnership with Wyong has been in existence for how long again, what 4 months? As such the Rooster are supposed to go with an untried NRL rookie as their only established specialist hooker in Mitch Williams and hope he doesn't get injured before Friend can get back on the field? That is just sheer lunacy mate. I don't recall people bagging Parramatta for doing it when they signed Deggois mid-season after Peats injury....

15 other clubs passed up the opportunity to sign Williams as well. The reason why he won NSW Premier League player of the year is that most of the really good NSW Cup players don't stay there all season, they end up playing NRL. Srama was wanted by a number of other NRL clubs.

As to the Roosters buying anybody, they bought a dummy half with plenty of First grade experience who won't cost an arm or a leg. No coach in their right mind would go into a season without a fit proven NRL dummy half. If Williams is good enough he will force his way into the team.

Williams needs a chance to prove himself, why bother having a reserve grade (NSW Cup) side if you are going to buy other clubs unwanted scraps. How do these guys get to prove themselves ?. Another reason Williams wasn't snapped up last season is that Wyong weren't affiliated with an NRL side.

Mate calm down. If he's good enough he'll play firsts.

That's exactly what I was thinking! Apparently we are not supposed to buy any players at all, that don't come from the Eastern Suburbs and now Wyong.

As Neeknitsuj put it in a common sense way, if he is good enough to play 1st grade with us then he will!

Our club would have been foolish not to have bought Srama! Friend will be out til possibly round 10, and when he does come back he most likely will only be able to play for between 30-50 minutes for the first 6 or more games. Hastings and Maubs are not a specialist dummy half, and Williams is untested at 1st grade level. Only an idiot would go into the season without taking up the option available of getting a specialist 1st grade experienced dummy half, especially considering your number 9 is such a vital position in the team!!

I reckon you'll like Williams more than you will like Srama in those first 10 rounds. He is a very handy player - just a bit small.

he had 2 years to go on his $200k per season contract (15/16) and wants to be paid out for both years if he leaves - Titans are saying no way hose so he wont sign with the Roosters unless this occurs- oh well if he stays with the GCT he will be playing reggies for the next 2 years. his loss as he could get an contract extensions at the Roosters.

So what is the next move - Jackson Hastings??

Neither, I've seen Mitch Williams play yes he is on the small side but I know Williams would cut it in the NRL he just needs a chance but yesterday I heard contact negotiations with Srama had broken down and he looks like saying of the Gold Coast (damn shame). I've seen quiet a few players picked up from the NSW Cup now playing NRL on a regular basis Josh Starling (Manly), Josh Mansour (Penrith) and Beau Falloon (Gold Coast) who all played for North Sydney.
