One last comment about Vivvy. He didnt' clear the front leg and play slog shots over cow corner. He played cricket shots with power and timing.

There is plenty of Vivvy on Youtube, check him out.

And now back to the cricket.

Yeah that was
H recollection too, immense power to all areas and pretty conventional shots, and not clearing the front hip. A quick look at the clips confirmed I wasn't making it up.

How many modern batsmen don't bat properly. David Warner bats more or less properly. Limited footwork at times (he is left handed) but he relies on his power and eye.

I think I can criticise the technique of most great batsmen to a degree. Richards wasn't as classical as Ian Bell... Which one is the better batsman lol

Pitch will be bland, slower than Australian ones. Not too dissimilar to Eden Park I'd imagine. Good odi wicket.

Weather not great anywhere today, could be rain affected

Everybody just ignore Antilag. He's a trainwreck.

Don't worry Parraboy, Meth is not engaging at name calling or put downs. I literally am an incident in which a train was severely damaged.

Meth is clearly concerned about the potential for rubber necking.

He may not clear the front hip as Pete claimed, but he did plant his left leg and pull deliveries from outside off stump to the onside. Regularly. (He could even hit these shots to just fine of square leg at 90 degrees if he pivoted during the shot - not just mid wicket). He did the same with his drop kick shots fuller pitch over long on through to mid wicket. (Had he cleared the front hip - he would hit the ball further). Deliveries on middle and leg and flying over square leg and fine leg, which he also did well, is more conventional.

He would also open his stance to the off side and bat "inside out" giving himself room backing away and launch deliveries over cover for deliveries on middle and leg stump.

In a lot of ways - it may be argued that he was an innovator - because all those shots are becoming par for the course these days. This may have been the point that Pete was trying to make originally.

There are plenty of videos on youtube supporting the above.

I'm surprised noone is trying Richie Richardson's hook shot to wide deliveries of off stump at waist to rib height in T20.

FFS another injury - Boland in for Richardson who has injured his back

If we swapped our medicos for the Panthers mob it'd be a massive upgrade

Antilag is one of the most annoying forumites here

Anywho, the result of today's game depends on how long is takes us to get into the NZ middle order, if they're 1 or 2 down for 100 or so, expecting another NZ victory. Our bowlers have to be counted for today, last game they did well to restrict them just over 300, today they need to restrict them to under 300, we can't expect to keep chasing down big totals, especially overseas.

it's not a big loss, Richardson went for a pounding last game, in saying that.. my word Boland does hit that pitch hard

Relax mate, Boland has a heavy ball

Faulkner is a huge loss, but Hastings looks alright and Haze is better than his last show
Batting is even, we're probably slight favourites overall

Bringing a spinner in gives the attack better balance too. Thought at Eden Park the Aussie attack looked a little too similar.

Faulkner is still a loss though, with the bat as well. Zampa isn't horrible with the bat, but it's still a downgrade. Marsh/Wade/Zampa has a certain fragile look about it.

Come on guys, at least give Boland a consolation wicket or two. 2/73.

Got to keep that average from blowing out to over 300.

Brendon is capable of de Villiers style centuries
... if he just manages to last longer than 15 overs
