There is a PM XI v India match from Nov 30 in Canberra

2nd test starts Friday 6th Dec, 3pm DAY/NIGHT

Sharma comes back for India you would think, could be a good thing for us

I say we go same side, chance to make it right, otherwise if we flop then should be some changes for last 3 tests of the series

Marnus probably under the most pressure?? seriously should look to replace him with someone like Inglis if he cant contribute in this test with the bat

Don't change anything. Its only the second test so workload isn't an issue. If this next match is a loss you make changes. D/N always gives a result. Its a huge match and a must win.

We have won 11/12 D/N games. McSweeney and Head will bat on their home ground. A number of other players have good records in Adelaide as well.

Oh and fun fact...no player has scored more pink ball test hundreds than Marnus Labuschagne with four centuries...

I don't recall us ever in my lifetime being behind 1-0 in a test series anywhere and actually coming from behind to win it.

Is there a series i have missed in the past 24 years.

Every series I can think off we didn't come back from at home

2008/09 v Saffers we were down 1-0 and lost
2010/11 v England we were down 1-0 after 2 tests and lost
2016/17 v Saffers we were down 1-0 and lost
2018 v India we were down 1-0 and lost.

That's off the top of my head when it comes to overseas nothing stands out either

I just saw you said in the last 24 years. In my mind 1997 is still only about 15 years ago.

I thought maybe we were 0-1 v West Indies in the mid 1990s, but we won the first test in both away series. Came back from 1-2 in the 1998-99 series.

On the fence about changes. Everyone said they hope we don’t dump McSweeney after a test if he fails. Now everyone wants everyone else out. I’d personally consider Inglis in for Marnus but that’s about it. (Inglis to bat 6 with everyone moving up a spot).

I think the toss here is crucial as in all D/N tests, but I think we get up here.

Of these 240 series, eliminate all the 2 test series where losing game 1 means you cannot win the whole series. Then of the remaining series how many times have we actually lose the first test? Willing to bet the number is quite low. For example we almost always win at the Gabba meaning the bulk of the series where we do lose test 1 are away from home.

In your lifetime (assuming you were born in 1994, based on your username), simmo1 is correct: the only instance has been the 1997 Ashes series, where the Aussies lost the first test at Edgbaston before coming back to win the Ashes 3-2.

Came back from 1-2 in the 1998-99 series.

If we're talking about coming back one test down to draw a series (which is what happened on the 1999 tour of the West Indies, where Australia won the final test to salvage a 2-all draw), the Aussies have done that many times over the decades.

The most recent occurrence of that though (if a test series is defined as a minimum 2 tests) was the 2017 tour of Bangladesh. At home, most recent occurrence was Steve Waugh's farewell series in 2003/04: lost the 2nd test in Adelaide, then won the Boxing Day test before drawing in Sydney, finishing 1-all.
