Play has been called off due to rain.

Bangerz on 228/5 at the end of days play.

Simply not good enough given the good batting conditions. Watching Mominul get out was cringe worthy. Chased at a delivery which was really short and wide and nicked it to the keeper.

Tamim was lucky to be dropped twice and continues his century drought in tests. Anamul Haque is proving to be a miserable failure at the top of the order.

Its all upto Mushfiqur and Nasir tomorow to steady the ship.

Nice to see Tamim get some runs, I've always rated him and don't want to see him disappear like so many promising Bangladeshi batsmen have. Their batting looks pretty solid now as a whole, they're still a couple of quality bowlers short of being regular competition at the top level.

So Bangladesh all out for 282. That's alright i guess but if they applied themselves more than 350-400 should have been on the cards considering the state of the pitch.

Mushfiqur's captaincy will cost Bangladesh.

Nasir Hossain bowled a wicket maiden but in the next over Mushfiqur takes him off the attack and puts in the worst of the bowlers Abdur Razzak.

Utter stupidity.

Mushfiq could have also used Mominul but he didn't.

And on a slightly more competitive situation: Bangladesh are struggling to make NZ bat again

Even if they do make NZ bat again, it doesnt look like NZ will be chasing very much

Nice to see Wagner among the wickets, I want to see him become a regular fixture in the Black Caps.

Bangladesh just don't look like they have the intestinal fortitude to be up for a fight in a competitive situation

The first test was a Featherbed designed for improving bat averages

Nz will win either the end of play today or early on day 5

A Bangladesh win is definitely out of the cards.

If NZ can make BD fold like a pack of cards by the end of days play or by the end of session 1 tomorow then NZ have a good shot in winning.

But Bangladesh really need to bat out as many overs as possible to force the draw. A draw would be like a win for them because of the points they will earn in test rankings.

The cards are falling Bangladesh's way. :sarcasm:

Yes but even if Bangladesh put on a total of 300 they will not be capable of taking 10 wickets in the space of about 3 sessions.

Btw Mominul Haque as been a massive revelation for Bangladesh. After playing 5 test matches he is currently averaging 82 and is currently sitting on 113*.

Stumps and Bangladesh are in a very good position at 269/3.

But considering the lead NZ had, BD are ultimately on 114/3 which isn't bad either.

They just need to hang in there and draw the test. Hope Mominul can reach his double ton tomorow.

Mominul has been fantastic so far. He has been a good find for Bangladesh. A very sensible batsmen who has a nice shape to his batting. Very strong thru the offside and very classy to watch.

Worth watching.

Boult, and particularly Bracewell, have been terribly disappointing. We really needed Bracewell to step up here, considering we don't really have the spinners to compete on this track. In saying that, though he's still very raw, it's great to have a spinner in Sodhi that can actually turn the ball.

I've said it before, Bracewell hasn't done anything since that famous Hobart test.
Our top line attack should be Southee, Boult and Wagner. Bracewell will always be backup at best.
