2nd Test: India v South Africa at Kolkata Feb 14-18, 2010

Second test gets underway today. I could not be more excited, if South Africa win this they reclaim number one spot in the ICC rankings, but there is more than that in this, it would mean a series win in India which is always a big feat.

Laxman is back, not necessarily at 3 but his presence should be a major boost for India and I was reading that Laxman's average at the Eden Gardens is 81.63 as opposed to a career average of 45.70:crazy:

For the Saffas, there was some doubt about Smith with ligament damage in his finger, but so long as he can hold a bat he should play, Boucher is still have some trouble with his back, but word is he'll play. On a more positive note, Steyn is 5 wickets short of being only the fifth South African to have taken 200 wickets and a little stat I picked up, ◦among bowlers with a minimum of 100 Test wickets, Steyn's strike-rate of 38.7 is the second-best, behind only George Lohmann who took 112 wickets at 34.1

you're already right about the first part, South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first

Smith is fit, but Boucher is out, which means DeVilliers is keeper, making room for another batsman, which will be Alviro Petersen, who I believe will be opening the batting with Smith, with Prince being pushed down to six, a move I am in favour of:)

Kallis out for 10, yet again failing to reach the double century, I blame you for this Parraboy

He is better coming in at 2/2 rather than 2/200 :)

1/218 to 9/266 for SA at stumps day 1, Are they choking?

Sehwag at it again, 118 of 104 balls. India 2 for 214. Looks like the Saffa's have chocked again.

JP Duminy has gone downhill fast since his great form in Australia last summer.

day 4

Kallis only 180 short of my prediction

SA 3/115

233 runs behind, match delayed by bad light,
looks like only one full day remaing for India to win, or SA to draw

I reckon Duminy will come to the rescue tomorrow
Amla has been brilliant this series

well, what can I say, great contribution by Duminy scored 6 runs for the match and almost chewed up 4 overs at the crease, and also took the important wicket of Sehwag for 165

SA 7/229

41 overs remaining

one side and one side only is going to be celebrating real hard within the next 2 hours

who do i think it is, I think it will be the proteas

Duminy is probably the most overrated player in world cricket at the moment... Ashwell Prince must be livid having to open because someone has a fetish for Duminy

Prince didn't open in this test. Duminy started really well, what's going on with him now must be the cricket equivalent of second year syndrome. What's been god for the Proteas is that Amla really knows how to play the Indian bowlers

Prince is also enduing a form slump as horrific as Duminy's.

I would drop Duminy from the Test side but retain him for the ODIs so he can regain his confidence. Prince is over the hill.

My take is that his form has gone since he's been forced to open, because of Duminy... who has never really warranted selection in the middle order over Prince

India levels at 1-1.

The parraboy over takes moffo as the worst tipper to have ever lived.

You parra fans better hope he does not tip parra for the premiership.

Agreed, hasn't been the same since he had to move for a one series wonder.
