Only 19 players, that's a pretty strong indicator of the rd 1 side I'd say, dissapointed Geoff Daniella isn't in there and also that Michael Jennings hasn't been fit to participate in a trial. I'm pretty confident had he been he would have been a starter Rd1. Anyone know what the deal with his injury is?

I would also like to know, seems the officials are keeping the extent of his injury close to their chests, hope it isnt too bad.

1. Rhys WESSER
2. Michael GORDON
3. Luke LEWIS
4. Nathan SMITH
5. Luke ROONEY
6. Brett Firman
7. Craig Gower
8. Joel Clinton
9. Luke Priddis
10. Matt Cross
11. Tony Puletua
12. Matt Bell
13. Trent Waterhouse

14. Frank Puletua
15. Junior Moors
16. Brendan Worth
17. Paul AITON

18. Peter Wallace
19. Nick Youngquest

I think that'll be the team...and top 17 the team for Round 1...personally i find it disappointing that Worth and Smith will be there tbh. I would rather Daniella and Grant...even if we lost...don't care...we'd be investing in the future.

He was ruled out of both trials immediately follow the ankle injury he sustained in training.

At the time of the injury the club said he would be about for approx 4 weeks and that he should be available come the start of the season.

Thanks for that certainly knew he was ruled out of the first trial but seem to remember he was still a possiblity for the 2nd. Hopefully the coach thinks so highly of him he can jump straight into first grade because like Big Mick I'm dissapointed in the likely inclusion of worth and Smith, I'd also prefer to see Wallace at 5/8. However I'm prepared to give all a fair go.

Frank Pritchard will knock Brendan Worth out of the team IMO. Michael Jennings/Peewee Moke will knock Nathan Smith out of the team. Shane Rodney when healthy will knock Matty Bell back to the bench. Junior Moors may be dropped though.

I can't see Smith and Worth as regulars in first grade. They would need incredible form to keep their spots.

Hopefully Junior Moors can really challenge Matt Bell and others for a bench spot this year. He has so much potential and is still young enough to have a very good NRL career.

well yeah...notice that the team i named is just in this trial?

Also none of the guys you mentioned will be there Round 1. Don't think they'll be fit. They better get in after Round 1!

Actually, Frank Pritchard and Michael Jennings could be fit for Round 1. Penrith said that Pritchard wouldn't miss any of the season, and i read yesterday that Jennings will possibly be ready for Round 1. Although i wouldn't bet on either being spot on, Shane Rodney last year was a week away from being healthy for around 2 months. My point was more that we won't have to worry about Worth and Smith becoming regulars.

Peewee Moke is like Round 4 IRC, and Shane Rodney is god knows how far away.

i hope Worth and Smith wont be regulars as I just don't rate them tbh. They could prove me wrong..but either way.

Rodney...geez i hope he fits back...i want that guy fit...great player.

Pritchard wont be there for 3-4 weeks i don't reckon...he wont be right in the head...but given Tom is out of hospital...it might help him back.

Read the paper this morning, and they had our backline as this:
1. Rhys Wesser
2. Nick Youngquest
3. Michael Gordon
4. Luke Lewis
5. Luke Rooney
6. Peter Wallace
7. Craig Gower

To be honest, i like it better then with Smith in the team. Firman was listed as a bench player. Obviously he and Wallace will trade roles and Elliot will get an idea who seems to compliment Gower better.

The rest of the team was:
8. Joel Clinton
9. Luke Priddis
10. Brendan Worth (wtf?)
11. Tony Puletua
12. Matthew Cross
13. Trent Waterhouse

14. Frank Puletua
15. Junior Moors
16. Matthew Bell
17. Paul Aiton

18. Nathan Smith
19. Brett Firman

Smith and Worth are the 2 guys in the team i least want to watch. Dissapointed to see Worth in the Front Row.

Just curious have you ever seen Brendan Worth or Nathan Smith play?
I myself have only seen Nathan Smith play and when fit is a very good finisher. On Brendan Worth I am prepared to wait and see how he performs.

i'd prefer Smith than Youngquest...Smith is a big winger and runs hard.

Worth, having seen him numerous times, both in his limited first grade appearances and Premier League...is nothing really special.

But who knows what Elliot can do.

gordon in the centers now we arecooking .He was the player last year that looked like he could score at any time .The more he gets the ball the better.

Agreed. I hope he keeps his position. Move Lewis to the wing for Jennings to play centre, or put Jennings on the wing outside Gordon.

I'm hoping the waterhouse at lock thing is merely a short term situation created by the absence of Rodney and the fact that beyond that there isn't really IMO another player who could play lock. Of course we have already seen it hinted that Moke could be taking on a utility/lock role however his injured at the moment too.

In fact seriously thinking about it, if it weren't for injuries I'm pretty confident I'd be pretty happy with how our line up is looking heading into Rd1.

Michael Gordon played a fair bit of centre in PL but it was clearly not his best position. he is best suited on the wing, as he showed in 2006.

However, do not be surprised to see the Lewis/Rooney combination reinstated as our wingers according to my mail.

The Michael Jennings and a fit Pee Wee Moke centre combination is a real possibility which unfortunately may leave Michael Gordon on the outer, again injury permitting.
