I like what Egan is doing. I believe his Job description from SK is to not run. His job is to hold the markers and put our strongest ball carriers hitting inside the A defender.
So we can't blame Egan for not running and saying he should run more. His assignment is bigger than that. Whether it is the right call from SK is hard to see right now. Last night our forwards ran hard and it was clear to see that Egan was helping them get that little bit more space to punch through and bend the line. I think against penrith our forwards just didnt run as hard and so we were blaming Egan for not getting us forward.
This game plan is a dynamic one which relies on many people doing their job well all at the same time. When one part of the plan decides not to show up then the rest of the parts cant contribute.
I am encouraged by Blair. I feel he may be our litmus test going forward - if he is 'on' then we will do well. His two best games this season we won comfortably. I am excited to see whether this holds true.
