Gallen, Bird and Douglas.

Three Sharks players, Paul Gallen, Greg Bird and young front rower Luke Douglas, have been chosen in the Australian team train-on squad in preparation for the Test match against NZ in October.

The 20-year-old Douglas, who has impressed with his wholehearted performances over the past two seasons, will be joined in the train-on squad by Sharks team mates Greg Bird and Paul Gallen.

Bird is being spoken about as a candidate for the vacant five eighth position with regular pivot Darren Lockyer sidelined with a knee injury, while Douglas may get his chance also with front rower Luke Bailey likely to be unavailable due to a broken hand.

The train on squad, which is made up of players from those teams eliminated from the semi finals, will assemble twice during September for medicals and light training runs.

Additions to the squad will be made as teams are knocked out of the Final Series.

The Australian team is coached by Ricky Stuart, with the match against the Kiwis to be played on October 14 in Wellington, New Zealand.

Rest of the squad

Wests Tigers: Robbie Farah

Roosters: Braith Anasta, Nate Myles, Anthony Tupou, Craig Wing

Sharks: Greg Bird, Luke Douglas, Paul Gallen

Gold Coast: Luke Bailey, Anthony Laffranchi, Scott Prince (travel TBA)

Dragons: Matt Cooper, Ben Creagh, Mark Gasnier, Jason Ryles

Knights: Danny Buderus, Kurt Gidley, Steve Simpson

Penrith: Luke Lewis, Trent Waterhouse.

Beside being unavailable for rep duties I dont think anybody expected a 31 year old to debut for Australia.
Maybe you do?

But at any rate, if Chris Anderson was still coach, Kimmorley would have been given until the 11th hour to prove his fitness & take the field for his continued undeserved selection for Australia by one of his mates.

Obviously you would know more about the availability of players from your team than we would

Bad luck on your lads missing the finals by the way, although 12th is a pretty good effort for your first year in the comp...

How good will it be if Douglas makes the squad? He stepped up a gear the moment he hit FG footy. He will step up again easy.

Are you even a Sharks supporter? Anasta was f**ken hopeless at origin. Played well for 15 minutes and then went missing. Has had a strong late season and his form against Melbourne was superb but he has failed so many times at rep level that the selectors will look to the future.

Are u a female jc? Geez talk about a bitch! he might have gone missing due to a broken thumb suffered in the 20th minute but still played on...id like to see u play an origin match with a broken thumb...the closest u would get to the field is holding the pom poms...easy to criticise behind a computer champ

Its great following the media isn't it jc?...thery are only talking about him when they are winning games...try watching the games they have lost ALL YEAR...been playing consistently all year...its hard to get noticed when your lazy forwards drop balls...goes to show how much u know about footy!
