I watched it last night on dvd. I had high expectations, so it let me down a little.

I could imagine how good it would look in HD though.

I watched it on the weekend for the first time. I was a little disappointed considering all the hype it had received. But I didn't warm to Gladiator until I watched it a few times, so this may be similar.

i enjoyed it immensely. the narrative nature of it really allowed you to suspend belief and the CGI complimented this perfectly. good cast/acting... and the only way i think you would consider it homoerotic is if you're insecure with your own sexuality. it isn't faux epic by any stretch of the imagination - it's just plain epic.

The spartans were all into man love anyway. They used to shave their brides head on the wedding night so they would be more comfortable since they looked like their comrades.

The movie was average IMO. I had high hopes and it was just a kids tale with extreme violence.

haha I should've added "not that there's anything wrong with that". I wasn't uncomfortable with the homo-erotic aspect of the movie (I've seen Sum of Us and Brokeback which go slightly further). Unlike those two, 300 is just a crap movie. If anything I was uncomfortable with the girl on girl scene as it seemed a cheap ploy to pander to the homophobes - to keep them from freaking out at all the man-love beefcake action.
