Sadly, Ireland are going to get rissoled here. India needing only 86 runs from 26 overs with 9 wickets in hand.
Ireland needed at least 300, plus the dropped catch of Dhawan (who's now on 96*) have proved costly.
Looks like the top 4 in Group B will be decided by the final Ireland vs Pakistan pool match.
IMO, Ireland deserves to be in the Q/F's over the West Indies. The West Indies have shown absolutely no heart or passion against tougher opposition, and it's clear that they've got nothing to offer and surrender very meekly when Chris Gayle doesn't pull off his Dave Warner T20-type sloggathon. Of the 8 major test playing nations, they are the side who is in most danger of not finishing in the top 8 automatic qualifiers for the 2019 World Cup. How embarrassing and what a huge fall from their halcyon days of the 70s/80s/90s will that be if they don't end up qualifying for the World Cup?
Regarding Pakistan, had they not pulled off a very fortunate win against Zimbabwe (they deadset struggled with the bat against the Zimbots three frontline bowlers, and their fielding was deadset under-6 grade stuff) and an upset against South Africa, their campaign would be all but over now. Their bowling attack have camouflaged their batting and fielding weaknesses.
Porterfield had another plea for more ODI games, unfortunately it's been the same story since 2007 where they impress at a world cup and then get ignored for four years while England steal key players.
Imagine if Ireland had Morgan and Rankin present, add another strike bowler and I'd back them to make the ODI top 8.
