I'd rather play 1 short if he's the alternative!

Even Andrew Tye would have been better!
Ah, Knuckleball Tye....

He came on the scene with a lot of media attention (reminded me of Brett Dorey in 2006) and took a 5-fer in the opening match at Optus Stadium, but fell off the radar after copping a Mick Lewis at Nottingham when England scored 481

1/84 off 10 and a stunning 4 off 9. It's been 6 years between games, and this should likely be his last, barring about 15 injuries

Between Abbott and Green, Green is the player I'd be persevering with and hope he can remain injury-free. He showed a lot of potential with both bat and ball today.

Yep. Honestly, how does a nuffy like him get picked to play for his country? He offers nothing, with bat or ball. Such a strange selection.

Reminds me of Sam Heazlett playing in his sole ODI in 2017, despite having not played a 50 over match for his state Queensland prior to his ODI debut.

Seriously, the Aussie selectors have really thrown up a lot of curveballs over the years.

Tye was in the squad for this series.

Was there seriously any need to rotate players after two ODIs and nothing but some T20s since covid shut the game down ?

Abbott is a perfectly fine option. He's just not a death bowler...you can't use a hit-the-deck bowler at the death, his natural length is too short for it. Simple.

Can't even blame Finch cos he wasn't given a genuine death bowler in the side.

Anyway pretty happy with the Manuka deck given all the rain and the fact every other wicket in Canberra is currently still a raging green top. A bit two paced, good to bat on if you got going but not an absolute road by any means. And it's still a great ground to watch the game at.
