Just turned the TV on. Saw the Wade drop on twitter.
I've been saying this ever since he's been back in the team. His keeping has NOT improved.
Lyon hasn't bowled well and Wade hasn't been at all tested with spin bowling, which really shows whether a keeper is any good or not. Even so, the few times he has been tested he's made a number of f**k ups and cost Lyon a couple of wickets.
The big f**king problem is..his keeping has looked shit even against pace bowling, and you can tell cause of the number of nice bouncing, carrying deliveries that he makes look like they exploded. Like a good ref, you are not supposed to notice them unless they do something brilliant.
When Haddin was our keeper, he went for everything, and took some catches basically heading towards first slips right pocket. Compare that to Wade who leaves a ball a foot to the right of him for first slips left hand (the one which Renshaw dropped).
Even when Handscomb subbed in for him yesterday, he made everything look easy against the pace bowlers - as any reasonable keeper should.
And thats not to mention his bumbling parrying efforts receiving returns from the outfield.
His drop today would've been taken by two hands and made to look like cake by any decent keeper. His position in the team is honestly untenable. You can carry a good young bat or bowl for a few matches based on potential.
You cannot carry a keeper who "catches" like Wade. Its potentially career destroying for bowlers.
If the selectors really really really really really want him in the side, bat him at 6, and let him average 5. and have a real keeper in the side. At least that way his shitness won't affect anyone else.
